NFL Super Bowl Pick Straight Up: Seattle Seahawks ML (-225 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Here we are… It feels like just yesterday I was writing about the NFL kickoff between the Eagles and Cowboys, but now, there is just one game left. Going into the season, I loved the trajectory these two teams were on. They both had coaches I believed in and strong defensive units, but I believed these teams would be contenders in the 2026 season moreso than the 2025 season, after one more year to gel and get some more pieces, especially along the offensive line. Boy, was I wrong. Now these two teams have emerged as powerhouses, a year before my expected timeline, and are facing off in the Super Bowl. That being said, I believe one of these teams is just a little ahead of the curve than the other.

The Seattle Seahawks defense is so fun to watch. Their defensive line can routinely create pressure with just four rushers, thanks in large part to the dynamic interior duo of Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy II, along with the stunts along the front, incorporating the edge rushers. Behind them is one of the more complete back-seven units in the league, with Devon Witherspoon and rookie phenom Nick Emmanwori both able to take on the “star” role, Julian Love's versatility deep, and players like Ernest Jones IV, Josh Jobe, and Coby Bryant having career years. The Patriots' offense has admittedly struggled on their path to the Super Bowl, with just 18.0 PPG this postseason, the fewest by any team to make the Super Bowl since the 1979 Rams (15.0). They have had a tough road to get here, matching up against some of the league's best defenses in the Chargers, Texans, and Broncos, but the Seahawks are in that same caliber, while also boasting an elite offense.

I think the Patriots' defense can do enough to keep it close, but the Seahawks offense has shown that they are a step ahead of the Patriots. Even if the Patriots are able to stop the run with their own dynamic interior on the DLine, the Kubiak system this year has just found ways to get Jaxon Smith-Njigba open, helping lead to his career year. And if JSN is open, Sam Darnold will find him. I can pretty comfortably say that I expect the Seahawks to be hoisting the Lombardi this season, and the Patriots will have to wait at least one more year before they can get their first in the post-Brady/Belichick era.
