As the old saying goes, “Good teams win, great teams cover.” We are back for one last pick against the spread: Super Bowl 60 edition! Somehow, someway, the Patriots are already back in the big game, just a couple of years removed from the Brady/Belichick era. It doesn't seem fair, now does it? Let's see if they can come again with a win once again in this rematch of Super Bowl 49.
Below, we will be breaking down our NFL Super Bowl Pick Against The Spread while also going through the NFL Super Bowl Time. So without further ado, let's dive in!
NFL Super Bowl Pick Against The Spread at DraftKings Sportsbook
Since we are down to the Super Bowl, we have just one game on the docket: Seahawks vs. Patriots! In the following section, you will find my predictions, with my NFL Super Bowl Pick Against The Spread highlighted in bold. All lines are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:
- Seattle Seahawks -5.5 vs. New England Patriots +5.5
NFL Super Bowl Pick Against The Spread: New England Patriots +5.5 (-125 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
This line originally opened at 3.5 to then shift to 4.5 for most books or even up to 5.5 at some books, like on DraftKings Sportsbook. While I would agree that the Seahawks are the more dominant team, I would have to disagree with this line movement. The Patriots wouldn't be in the Super Bowl if they weren't a great team, and Mike Vrabel will not let that team get blown out. This defense has been a top unit all season and has been on an elite run during the playoffs, giving up less than 10 points per game. They boast one of the better defensive interior duos of Christian Barmore and Milton Williams, along with having an elite cornerback room made up of Christian Gonzales, Marcus Jones, and Carlton Davis. I know that the defensive interior will be able to slow down Kenneth Walker on the ground and force Sam Darnold and the passing game to win against the secondary.
While I do prefer the Seahawks' offense compared to the Patriots (which is why I think the Seahawks ultimately win this game), I do think the Patriots have a matchup they can exploit. Oftentimes, when the Patriots have played, it has been a “flavor of the week," matchup-based type of approach on offense. Sometimes it's Rhamondre Stevenson carrying the offense to a victory, while other times Stefon Diggs ends up with 12 targets and a win. This time around, I think Hunter Henry is the key. This year, the Seahawks defense's single weakness has been defending tight ends in the passing game. On the season, they are 29th in TE yards allowed (67 per game). While these two teams look very different compared to 2024, when they last faced off, Hunter Henry exploded with 8 catches for 109 yards. If the Patriots can get Henry involved early and often, along with their defense continuing to play at an elite level, I do not see why this game can't come down to one score.
