With Week 5 here, we have our first set of bye weeks, leaving 30 of the 32 teams playing in 15 matchups across the league. In the following section, you will find my predictions, with my 2026 NFL Week 5 Picks Against the Spread in the right column. All lines are provided by DraftKings Sportsbook:

NFL Week 5 Picks Against The Spread: Jacksonville Jaguars -7 (-115 at DraftKings Sportsbook) 

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The Philadelphia Eagles, who won a Super Bowl just two years ago, are now touchdown underdogs in a neutral site. I certainly do not think the Eagles are the worst team in the world, but with the offensive struggles, no DeVonta Smith, no Saquon Barkley, no Dallas Goedert, and the recent shakeup on the offensive line, I cannot imagine this team traveling well and performing well. 

Meanwhile, the Jaguars look like one of the best teams in the league going to play in their home away from home overseas. I have already stated my concerns about this Eagles offense, which I certainly expect to struggle against this stout Jags defense, but the Eagles defense has given up the second most yards in the entire NFL out of the slot. This bodes well for the Jaguars' #1 wide receiver, Parker Washington, who operates primarily out of the slot. Even if this game were in Philly, I would expect the same result. I like the Jags here to come away with a double-digit victory.

NFL Week 5 Picks Against The Spread: Houston Texans -7.5 (-104 at FanDuel Sportsbook) 

Ah, a battle between 0-4 teams. Who would’ve thought the Houston Texans would be here? Certainly not me. And maybe that is playing a role in why I think they are going to dominate their division rival in this spot. Or maybe it is because despite their 0-4 record, C.J. Stroud has looked good, Nico Collins is back fully healthy, and DeMeco Ryans has officially announced that he is taking over offensive playcalling.

On paper, this is BARE MINIMUM a top three defensive roster in the league. It was a dominant unit last year, but it has underperformed this year, giving up the most explosive plays in the entire NFL so far this season. And while I already think Ryans’ taking over the defense is a big boost, let us not forget that the yards this unit has given up have been against Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, and the countless offensive weapons they get to give the ball to. This defense should FEAST against an offense that has struggled this entire season, barely putting up a single touchdown against the New York Giants last week.

While the Carnell Tate breakout was fun last week and the Titans defense had a fairly good showing, this team is simply outclassed at every level. Their offense is top of the league in 3-and-out drives, forcing a fun defensive unit to be on the field for far too long. I think this is a nice bounceback spot for the Texans, who can hopefully go on a run and keep their season alive.
