Week 8 brings weather risk in Florida. Falcons-Buccaneers, Colts-Jaguars, and Patriots-Dolphins all carry rain chances of 59 percent or higher, with gusts of 22 to 24 mph in two of them. Outside of those three, the slate is mostly dry, and Titans-Bengals is the only other game with a rain chance above 30 percent. Two games are indoors or under a closed roof. Worst Weather Games in Week 8

The Florida Rain Games

Patriots at Dolphins has the worst forecast of the week, with rain at 78 percent through most of the game and gusts to 22 mph. The matchup is lopsided in New England's favor through the air. Drake Maye has 1,784 yards and 13 touchdowns, threw for 321 yards in last week's loss to Chicago, and the Patriots are coming off their healthiest injury report since Week 1, although A.J. Brown (ankle) and tackle Morgan Moses (foot) were limited. Miami is 1-5 with Malik Willis at quarterback, and its defense allows the league's worst opponent passer rating (116.8) with only six sacks. Heavy rain and gusts could trim that passing edge and push New England toward the run with TreVeyon Henderson.

Falcons at Buccaneers has rain at 71 percent from 1 PM on, and it plays into what both teams do best. Tampa Bay ranks third in rushing at 146.4 yards per game and ran for 258 yards in a 43-13 rout of Carolina, while Baker Mayfield threw only 11 passes for 64 yards in his return from a thumb injury. Atlanta allows 88.9 rushing yards per game, and Tampa Bay ranks second against the run. The Falcons are 3-4 and lean on Bijan Robinson, who leads the NFL with 907 scrimmage yards, while Michael Penix has nine touchdowns and one interception in five starts. Brian Robinson (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday for Atlanta, and Tampa Bay has Emeka Egbuka (concussion and foot) limited and tackle Luke Goedeke (calf) out of practice. The Bucs are 1.5-point favorites.

Colts at Jaguars has the strongest wind of the three, with 15 mph sustained and gusts of 22 to 24 mph on top of a 59 percent rain chance. Indianapolis is 2-5 with three straight losses, traded away Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and scored only 10 points in Minnesota. Daniel Jones has four touchdowns and seven interceptions, and Jonathan Taylor (587 yards, 8 touchdowns) faces a Jacksonville run defense that allows just 3.2 yards per carry. Jacksonville is 4-2 coming off its bye, with Trevor Lawrence at 14 touchdowns and four interceptions, and the Jaguars are 9.5-point favorites.

Also Worth Monitoring

Titans at Bengals has rain at 35 to 39 percent with light wind. Cincinnati is 4-2, and Ja'Marr Chase sat out Wednesday's practice with what the team called a rest day for his ankle. Tennessee had receiver Carnell Tate and punter Tommy Townsend (left knee) out of practice Wednesday. Chargers at Rams (20 percent rain early at SoFi) and Chiefs at Broncos (rain building to 30 percent by 7 PM) carry only small chances.

Best Weather Games in Week 8

Ravens at Bills is dry and calm with 2 to 3 mph wind, and its 54.5 total is tied for the highest on the slate. Lamar Jackson (ankle) is listed as questionable but is expected to return after missing three games, and the Ravens are coming off a 35-13 home loss to Cincinnati. Josh Allen has 1,504 yards, nine touchdowns, and four interceptions for a 5-1 Bills team coming off its bye.

Panthers at Packers on Thursday night is dry, with gusts of 13 to 16 mph. Carolina is coming off a 43-13 loss at Tampa Bay and is without guards Damien Lewis and Torricelli Simpkins III, outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, and cornerback Akayleb Evans, with right tackle Taylor Moton on injured reserve. Green Bay is without linemen Travis Glover and Sean Rhyan and linebacker Zaire Franklin, and receiver Matthew Golden is questionable.

Browns at Steelers (dry, 2 to 3 mph wind) carries the lowest total on the slate at 39.5. Eagles at Commanders and Raiders at Jets are dry as well, and the Raiders-Jets total has risen three points to 45.5. Cardinals-Cowboys is under a closed roof, where the total has climbed three points to 54.5, and Arizona running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle) is questionable. Vikings-Lions is in a dome, where running back Aaron Jones (knee) is day-to-day.

Rain and Snow Impact on Fantasy Football

There is no snow this week, but rain is the main storyline in Florida. Steady rain pushes offenses toward the run and short passing game and hurts deep shots, which favors backs like Bijan Robinson, Bucky Irving, Jonathan Taylor, and TreVeyon Henderson. It also raises the risk of fumbles and tipped balls, a concern for a turnover-prone passer like Daniel Jones. Because the Florida forecasts call for scattered downpours, the timing is hard to pin down, so check radar closer to kickoff. Kickers in the three Florida games deserve a small haircut on longer attempts.

Wind Impact on Fantasy Football

Colts-Jaguars has the strongest wind of the week at 15 mph sustained with gusts to 24 mph, and Patriots-Dolphins and Falcons-Buccaneers add gusts of 22 and 18 mph. Wind at those speeds hurts deep passing accuracy and longer field goals, and it comes paired with rain in all three. Everything else is calm, including the gusts of 13 to 16 mph in Green Bay, which are not enough to affect lineup decisions.

NFL Games to Avoid in DFS Because of Weather

  • Patriots at Dolphins: the heaviest rain on the board and gusts to 22 mph could blunt a Patriots passing game that otherwise has a major matchup edge.
  • Colts at Jaguars: the strongest wind of the week and 59 percent rain are a tough combination for a Colts offense that is already struggling.
  • Falcons at Buccaneers: rain at 71 percent in a game where both teams want to run, which limits the upside of the passing games.
  • Lighter downgrade: Titans at Bengals, where the rain chance is moderate, and the wind is light.

Everything else, including the dry forecasts in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and Landover, and the two indoor games, should play out without weather being a factor in how you build your lineups.
