Welcome back to our NFL training camp report! Last night’s preseason action provided a lot of excitement with several standout performances from different rookies across the league. Could Drew Allar be the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers? And is Kaden Wetjen his Antonio Brown? While those could be slight overreactions to preseason games, there is still plenty to make of the first week of preseason along with all of the NFL training camps around the league, which is why we have our NFL training camp report to keep you covered with everything you need to know.

🤔 NFL Training Camp Updates For Today, 8/14

Yesterday’s preseason excitement was not the only thing that made headlines. Injury news is shining bright as players like Malik Nabers and Tucker Kraft eye their hopeful Week One returns while others like Jordyn Tyson and Chuba Hubbard are sidelined. Not only that, but teams are STILL making moves in free agency, with former Detroit Lions’ first-round pick Terrion Arnold joining the Seattle Seahawks secondary. Today brings plenty of reactions, injuries, and more from yesterday’s action, along with a potential Aaron Donald return, so without further ado, let’s dive into our NFL training camp report for today!

🏈 NFL Training Camp Live News - James Pearce Jr. Suspended

James Pearce Jr. Suspended

Atlanta Falcons pass rusher James Pearce Jr. is being suspended for eight games in the NFL regular season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

In February, Pearce was arrested in Florida for a domestic dispute. The Falcons were bracing for a suspension and had Pearce listed as a third-team player on their initial depth chart. Pearce was one of two pass rushers the Atlanta Falcons selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The other, Jalon Walker, recently went down with a torn ACL.

UPDATE: Tennessee Titans CB Nazeeh Johnson, Buffalo Bills DT Phidarian Mathis, and Washington Commanders DE Dorance Armstrong were all also suspended for violating different NFL policies.

Is Kirk Cousins or Fernando Mendoza the Raiders QB1

Kirk Cousins had a DAY in yesterday’s preseason matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, finishing his singular drive five of six passing for 50 yards and a touchdown to tight end Michael Mayer. That being said, of course, people still want to clamor for the shiny new toy, Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza also had a solid showing, with 10 completions for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Today, Head Coach Klint Kubiak reiterated that the QB1 job is Cousins’ to lose, but he also noted that Mendoza could be getting more first-team reps, as all three quarterbacks have earned time with the first team. While Cousins is very likely going to be leading the team in their Week One matchup against the Miami Dolphins, I would imagine his leash will be rather short with Mendoza waiting in the wings.

Is Today Aaron Donald’s Return Day?

The NFC West is surely shaking in their boots, as the trending rumor around the Los Angeles Rams side of X is that Aaron Donald could be announcing his return today. He was shown working out with some defensive linemen at the Rams facility today.

Already viewed as the Super Bowl favorites heading into the NFL season, the return of Aaron Donald could certainly take the Los Angeles Rams over the top.

📈Fantasy Football Winners Of The Day

Jeremiyah Love Shines in Preseason Debut

Many were concerned about the workload that Jeremiyah Love would receive as a rookie, both due to the competition in the running back room and comments from his head coach Mike LaFleur. Those concerns were put to rest last night, as in his preseason debut, Love had a 70% snap share alongside starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett and totaled over 70 yards on 14 touches. He certainly passed the eye test as well, making him a fantasy football training camp winner.

Fellow rookies Mike Washington Jr., De'Zhaun Stribling, Kaden Wetjen, and Germie Bernard all had solid showings as well and will likely see their ADPs skyrocket over the next couple of days.

Kyler Murray Connects with Justin Jefferson

Since Kyler Murray was announced as the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings this season over the incumbent JJ McCarthy, the question still remains as to how we should value superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Despite a down year with a combination of McCarthy, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer slinging the rock, Jefferson is still being drafted as the WR6. That might be the correct range, though, as he seems to be clicking with his new QB1.

📉 Fantasy Football Losers Of The Day

Cam Ward Struggles

There were a lot of great NFL preseason performances yesterday. One player who struggled immensely was Cam Ward against the San Francisco 49ers backups. Ward finished five of 12 passing for only 57 yards and never seemed to find his rhythm. While the Tennessee Titans reinforced their belief in Ward, he, along with his pass catchers, is looking like a fantasy football training camp loser.

Oronde Gadsden TE3

Sometimes all you need to see is who gets to rest versus who has to play in the preseason to determine roles on a given team. The Chargers seemed to show the fantasy football community how players in their tight end room stack up, as veteran tight ends David Njoku and Charlie Kolar rested last night during their preseason matchup against the Houston Texans, while fantasy football darling Oronde Gadsden suited up and played with the backups. Gadsden is being drafted as the TE22, over both of the Chargers’ other tight ends, but will likely see his ADP plummet in the coming days.

🩼 NFL Training Camp Injury Updates - Arizona Cardinals Banged Up

When looking into an NFL training camp report, it is also important to stay up to date with all the injuries around the league and NFL Training Camp Live News.

Arizona Cardinals Banged Up in Preseason Week One

Even with Love showing up big time, Marvin Harrison catching a touchdown, and the offense overall looking potent, it was not all sunshine and rainbows for the Arizona Cardinals last night. Jeremiyah Love unfortunately exited the preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders with an ankle injury. While it is not considered serious, it is still something to monitor in the coming weeks.

The bigger hit that the Cardinals took was losing their rookie lineman Chase Bisontis to a knee injury. While he is still undergoing tests, the initial report is “not looking good,” according to Head Coach Mike LeFleur.
