NFL Training Camp Updates, Live News, Injuries - Panthers to Use Hayne King in a Taysom Hill Role: 8/10
While the NFL Hall of Fame game gave us a sliver of live NFL action, the rest of the preseason starts this week, meaning we are back to having live football on our TVs through the rest of 2026. We have never been more back. NFL training camps are continuing to heat up around the league, with breakout players making names for themselves and fantasy football draft day steals being identified. Lucky for you, we are here to cover it all with our NFL training camp report.
🤔 NFL Training Camp Updates For Today, 8/10
This weekend was a brutal one with several notable fantasy football draft targets facing injury, from Luther Burden to Josh Downs. I guess those fantasy football breakouts will have to wait just a little bit longer. As we did last week, we have even more offseason contract extensions to cover, highlight plays to take a look at, and maybe even a Hall of Fame Game standout taking on a new role? A lot is happening this week in our NFL training camp report, so without further ado, let’s dive in!
🏈 NFL Training Camp Live News - A New Taysom Hill?
Carolina Panthers Looking at Haynes King in a Taysom Hill Role
Last week, Carolina Panthers quarterback Haynes King made himself known to the football world when he impressed in the NFL Hall of Fame game, leading a game-winning drive that was capped off with a quarterback scramble for a touchdown with no time left on the clock. The athleticism that he put on display was enough to have him considered in a Taysom Hill-like role in the Panthers offense.
Taysom Hill was a do-it-all quarterback/wide receiver/tight end/pure football player who played for the New Orleans Saints for nine seasons. His Swiss Army knife skillset provided a versitile change up from a traditional offense. The Saints had a smaller pocket passer in Drew Brees, who Hill was able to take pressure off of. The Panthers could similarly do the same with their slight quarterback, Bryce Young. Not the greatest news for fantasy football players, but could be a lot of fun to watch on Sundays.
Hunter Henry Extended by New England Patriots
Since joining the New England Patriots, Hunter Henry has quietly been a very reliable weapon in the passing game. Last year, he was able to help Drake Maye find his way into the MVP conversation, and this year he is rewarded for his efforts.
This morning, Hunter Henry and the Patriots agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension that is worth up to $20 million. This contract will potentially secure Henry’s spot on the Patriots for the remainder of his career, as he enters the season at 31 years old.
UPDATE: Of course Hunter Henry couldn't be the only big-name extension of the day. The Dallas Cowboys and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams agreed to a three-year, $105.9 million contract extension, with $101 million total guaranteed, making him one of the highest-paid defensive linemen in the league. Williams joined Dallas at the trade deadline of last season and helped a lackluster defensive unit improve down the stretch.
📈Fantasy Football Winners Of The Day
Ja'Marr Chase has Lofty Goals
Ja'Marr Chase enters the season as a lock to go in the top five of most fantasy football drafts, if not the top three. Well, Chase is looking to make that pick worth it to fantasy football players, as he has his eyes on a 23-touchdown season. That milestone would match Randy Moss’ league record that he set in 2007 and would almost certainly lead Chase to a WR1 overall finish and would make him a fantasy football training camp winner.
George Kittle is Looking Healthy
I am starting to feel bad for all the negative news surrounding the San Francisco 49ers and their countless injuries, so how about some good news? George Kittle, who is working his way back from an Achilles tear, was looking quite agile at NFL training camp today.
When healthy, George Kittle has averaged 14.2 PPR points per game in 52 games with QB Brock Purdy. Currently being drafted as the TE9, Kittle could be a fantasy football draft day steal.
📉 Fantasy Football Losers Of The Day
Omarion Hampton Bellcow Season is Over
Many thought Omarion Hampton could be a lock to finish as a top five fantasy football running back, as many have in a Mike McDaniel offense. Unfortunately for fantasy football players, Mike McDaniel shut down any idea of a bellcow role for Hampton, saying he plans on taking a “hot hand” approach.
Hampton is currently being drafted as the RB10 overall, but he could fall down draft boards, as this news makes him a major fantasy football training camp loser.
Lions Offensive Line Takes a Hit
On top of losing Ben Johnson to the Chicago Bears, the Detroit Lions offense also took a step back in terms of offensive line play. With some key moves this offseason, they were looking to reclaim their title as a top unit in the league, but unfortunately, C Cade Mays is now expected to miss 8-10 weeks due to a small fracture in his wrist.
Having a strong offensive line is very important to fantasy football output, especially for running backs (ask Ashton Jeanty about his rookie year). The Bijan Robinson vs. Jahmyr Gibbs 1.01 debate may have just gotten a little easier, as Gibbs takes a massive hit in value here, making him a fantasy football training camp loser.
🩼 NFL Training Camp Injury Updates - J.K. Dobbins Scares Fantasy Football Players
When looking into an NFL training camp report, it is also important to stay up to date with all the injuries around the league and NFL Training Camp Live News.
J.K. Dobbins Injured at Practice
After many injury-riddled seasons, Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins personally guaranteed a full 17-game season a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, Broncos fans and fantasy football players alike are already doubting that statement, as Dobbins had to leave practice early with an injury.
Head Coach Sean Payton reported that it is just a minor soft tissue issue and that Dobbins will be “fine,” but this is a situation to continue to monitor.
Micah Parsons Eyes a Week Six Return
Last year, Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons’ season was cut short due to an ACL tear. Parsons continues to rehab the injury, as both he and the team want to be cautious not to rush back into action.
As of right now, his “optimistic” return date would be in Week Six when the Green Bay Packers take on his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. So, a revenge game could be on the line for the superstar defensive end.
