NFL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets for Week 1 Sunday, 9/7
Having now provided our NFL best bets for Week 1 in terms of each individual game, including each primetime game and full Sunday slate, it’s now time to discuss the totality of this first full day of action.Â
We’ve got divisional rivalries all over the country like Bengals vs. Browns, Giants vs. Commanders, and Lions vs. Packers, just to name a few. Speaking of Green Bay, there’s no doubt that even fans of other teams will be tuning in given the Micah Parsons trade. Unlike the other two rivalries mentioned, that’s at least expected to be a close matchup.
Speaking of which, if you’re looking to make NFL picks on some underdogs, one that we’ve got our eye on is the New York Jets at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In other words, we wouldn’t be surprised if they ruin Aaron Rodgers’ revenge game.

NFL Week 1 Predictions: Sunday, September 7th
Keeping our focus on the earlier afternoon games a bit - our NFL best bets for Week 1 are going to target the later slate - we’re also excited for the Buccaneers vs. Falcons clash. The NFC South may not be the strongest division given the results of recent years, but it’s certainly a thrilling one.
Any of their rivalries can go either way, and the Bucs and Falcons had crazy ones last year. Of course, plenty of fantasy managers with a top three pick in their drafts will also be watching for Bijan Robinson. A matchup we don’t expect many fans to make NFL predictions on is Panthers vs. Jaguars, but at the very least, it could be a make-or-break year for those QBs.
Since we’ve got NFL best bets for Week 1 for the primetime games individually, it’s two of the later afternoon games that we haven’t mentioned yet that have our attention.

49ers vs. Seahawks Best Bet: Cooper Kupp Over 35.5 Receiving Yards (-120 at FanDuel)
As mentioned, there are a few similarities between pir NFL best bets for Week 1, and we’re going to start with the divisional rivalry. That would be the one in Seattle with the Seahawks hosting the San Francisco 49ers, and we see the most value with the home team.
Seattle is primed to pull off the upset overall, but we’re going to just isolate a specific player instead. That would be newcomer Cooper Kupp, and as a former Los Angeles Ram, he is more than familiar with these NFC West rivalries and facing the 49ers. Prior to being heavily underutilized to close out his tenure in LA, he had a ton of success against San Fran.
That means when the 49ers defense was in its prime, which they no longer are. This offseason alone, they lost the likes of Dre Greenlaw and Charvarius Ward, just to name a couple. Even with those studs on the field, Kupp had tormented their secondary.
Again, prior to last year’s matchup, he had four straight games of 79, 122, 118, and 122 yards against them. Sure, maybe he’s not in his Super Bowl MVP form, but keep in mind that he’s taking over the role of DK Metcalf in this offense, and now has Sam Darnold rather than Geno Smith throwing to him.
Darnold may not be the athlete that Smith is, but he ended last year with the fifth-most passing yards in the NFL! Even with Jaxson Smith-Njigba as a primary target, not even needing 40 yards for this prop feels criminal.
Therefore, we’re kicking off our NFL best bets for Week 1 with Cooper Kupp over 35.5 receiving yards (-120 at FanDuel).

Texans vs. Rams Best Bet: Matthew Stafford OVer 1.5 Passing TDs (-105 at BetMGM)
Next up continues the themes previously mentioned - a late afternoon game featuring an NFC West team. This time, we’ve got our eyes on Kupp’s former team - the LA Rams - hosting the Houston Texans.
As for the newcomer here, it’s Davante Adams that we expect to play a positive role in helping us hit the second of our NFL best bets for Week 1. We know that all the discussion this offseason has been regarding Matthew Stafford’s back issue, but we aren’t asking him to pull off any Lamar Jackson athleticism.
We’re simply trusting him to find others in the endzone, namely Adams and Puka Nacua. After all, the passing game is the best way to attack the Texans' defense. That may surprise fans from a pure yardage standpoint, but again, we’re just focused on finding the painted grass.
Houston allowed the third-most touchdowns through the air last season, as opposed to the fourth-fewest on the ground. Stafford is happy slinging the rock at will, and head coach Sean McVay trusts him wholeheartedly. This is also further supported by the fact that Puka Nacua and Davante Adams have the second and third-shortest odds to score a TD, respectively.
Each of them snagging one means that we’ll cash Matthew Stafford over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-105 at BetMGM) as part of our NFL best bets for Week 1.
