NFL Week 9 Predictions: Sunday, November 2nd

If, for some reason, you want to focus some NFL predictions on games expected to be blowouts, then look no further than Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers are hosting the Carolina Panthers, making them double-digit favorites (again).

The Denver Broncos are in what we consider to be a rather shocking spot as Bo Nix and company look to stay atop the division above the aforementioned Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers. They underdogs against the Houston Texans, and while they are on the road, that line could present an opportunity to back the underdog.

With what looks like an easier matchup for LA facing the Tennessee Titans, Denver is going to need to keep their foot on the gas as well. Although that division has been super exciting, they aren’t going to make the cut for our NFL best bets for Week 9. So, let’s fully dive into what did make the cut.

 

 

 

Bears vs. Bengals Best Bet: Rome Odunze Anytime TD (+130 at Rebet)

Although the Chicago Bears have a winning record at 4-3 and the Cincinnati Bengals are sitting at 3-5, the matchup between these teams could be a make-or-break playoff game for both teams, given the divisions that they’re in. So, while it may not be the marquee matchup of Sunday, it kicks off our NFL best bets for Week 9.

It’s no surprise to fans of any team out there that picking on the Bengals' defense has been lucrative. That’s been the case for more than just this season, and every single way you slice it, everything adds up to a fantastic day for an elite WR like Rome Odunze. Caleb Williams still needs to improve his accuracy, but if there were ever a matchup to do so, this is it.

Let’s start with a more advanced metric - the Bengals rank dead last in terms of defensive EPA per pass. Yes, even worse than the Dallas Cowboys, and that has translated to on-the-field success for opposing offenses as well. Cincinnati has allowed both the third-most passing yards per game AND the second-most passing TDs with 19.

As for Rome Odunze himself, he scored in each of the first four games of the season, five in total. Admittedly, we’d prefer him to have more redzone targets, but we also aren’t overly concerned, given that he’s had receptions of 20+ yards in every single game since Week 1. Chiefs vs. Bills Best Bet: Over 25.5 Second Half Points (-110 at Rebet)

One game that we are going to target that was already mentioned is Chiefs vs. Bills. How could we not? This has been the best game of the entire year - regular season AND playoffs - more often than not in the past few seasons, and everything sets up for another epic battle. It’s also set up for plenty of points.

We expect that to continue with the Buffalo offensive line ranking second in pass block AND run block win rate versus KC’s defensive line that ranks dead last in run stop win rate and 20th in pass rush win rate.

Similarly, the Chiefs' offensive line ranks fourth in pass block win rate against the Bills' defensive line, which ranks 23rd in both pass rush and run stop win rate. The slight edge going to Buffalo with all those rankings could have you going for their team total instead of the focus of our NFL best bets for Week 9.

We love the second half value not only because it’s listed lower than the first-half total, but because of the epic finishes we’ve seen between these top-tier teams. Who could forget the 42-36 playoff game that had 28 points scored in the fourth quarter alone? Both sides know how crucial this game is, so we expect them to come out a bit tight to start the game.
