NFL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets for Week 18 Sunday, 1/4

As amazing as it is to have all 16 games featuring division rivalries, we do have to admit that not all of them are meaningful for both teams. However, before we start getting too far into that, let’s also not forget that while we have NFL best bets for Week 18 to make for Sunday to add to our NFL expert picks, we’ve got two incredibly important Saturday games!

The NFC South will be decided first with the Panthers vs. Buccaneers game, followed by the NFC West AND #1 seed decider of Seahawks vs. 49ers. Truthfully, with those two games happening early, most of Sunday actually doesn’t have a ton to decide. Even still, our NFL best bets for Week 18 are here to make it as valuable and exciting as possible!
 

 

 

NFL Week 18 Predictions: Sunday, January 4th

What does still have absolutely massive meaning is what was flexed into the Sunday Night Football slot. The classic Ravens vs. Steelers rivalry will decide the AFC North, and we have separate NFL best bets for SNF for that battle. The loser won’t even be getting a Wild Card spot, making it even more worthwhile for some NFL best bets for Week 18.

The only other division that will then need to be decided is the AFC South. However, the two teams that can take it won’t be playing one another. So, we’ll need to monitor both Colts vs. Texans and Titans vs. Jaguars. With the two home teams expected to win, who are the ones who can win the division - if they both do, Jacksonville will take it.

Now that we’ve got the big situations laid out, let’s get into the targets of our NFL best bets for Week 18.

 

 

 

Titans vs. Jaguars Best Bet: Tony Pollard Over 14.5 Carries (-116 at Novig)

Well, we aren’t going far, as we’re going to be breaking down one of those AFC South rivalries. A win for the Jags will get them the division title, and perhaps even Coach of the Year for Liam Coen. As great as all that sounds and very well may happen, we aren’t worried about any of it when it comes to our NFL best bets for Week 18.

Not only does the outcome of the game not matter, but we’re focused on the underdog anyway. We’re certainly not going to try and convince you that the Titans are the better team, but there is something else that Week 18 is all about that we haven’t mentioned just yet. That would be player incentives.

There is a significant one in this game for Tennessee RB Tony Pollard. The former Dallas Cowboys is 83 yards away from an extra $250,000 and two rushing TDs away from another $200,000. However, you’ll see that our NFL best bets for Week 18 aren’t focused on either of those markets specifically.

That’s because the Jags will indeed be out to win this game, so rather than trusting the Titans to do their part, we simply expect them to give him the opportunities. They’ve done so to this point, as Pollard has had 18, 21, and 25 carries in three of his last four games. Furthermore, when these division rivals played in Week 13, he averaged six yards per carry.

Commanders vs. Eagles Best Bet: Deebo Samuel Over 44.5 Receiving Yards (-109 at Novig)

We’re going to head to the NFC and from the 1 PM ET slate to the late afternoon one. With the Philadelphia Eagles' inability to get the #1 seed in the conference, if anything, they would be the ones to rest players rather than the Washington Commanders. Although the road team has nothing to play for, they're still part of our NFL best bets for Week 18.

First of all, Deebo Samuel is one of the most versatile WRs in the NFL, who is an explosive play waiting to happen. Sure, the Eagles' defense is among the best, but they like to have Quinyon Mitchell matchup with an opponent's #1 wideout. Well, in this case, that would be Terry McLaurin, freeing up Samuel a bit. 

Even still, none of that is the primary reason behind making this one of our NFL best bets for Week 18. Like the player incentive above, Deebo Samuel is 93 receiving yards away from $450,000 and two TDs away from another $250,000! Those aren't even numbers to hit, but we simply expect the opportunities to be given to him to try and get there.

Samuel has continued to prove that he needs just one touch - he had a 41-yard reception on Christmas Day. We’re not saying that he's going to hit his incentives, but we are going to add to our NFL best bets for Week 18 with Deebo Samuel over 44.5 receiving yards (-109 at Novig).
