Happy Monday NBA fans! I hope the NBA DFS main slate treated you well. Now it is time to shift our thinking over to the NBA DFS Showdown slate. We have a great matchup between two Western Conference teams the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers. It's a great matchup between two of the best young players in the league in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgrom taking on Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

Finding some of the NBA DFS top picks could be, easier if you look at Fantasy Alarm’s NBA DFS Projections, powered by FanJections. Let’s dive into the complete breakdown for tonight’s showdown slate.

NBA DFS Showdown CPT/MVP Top Plays

Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

Anthony Davis is coming off a big fantasy performance putting up a 15-15-11 triple-double. He did that on the back of a 5-21 shooting night in a loss against Utah. Utah has the size to make things difficult for AD, however, OKC does not. In the last matchup with OKC, AD dominated with 26 points grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists for over 56 fantasy points. AD has the highest floor on the slate, and that's why he is the most expensive. He has the best matchup on the court, and have no issue with playing him at the captain spot tonight.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Los Angeles Lakers

SGA is my favorite basketball on the planet. The man just gets to his spots on the court and does whatever he wants like he is a 10-year pro. With him taking on the Lakers is a good matchup as well, with them not having a bigger defensive-minded guard to throw at him. Austin Reaves or Taurean Prince is their best option to throw at him, but that will likely not faze him at all. In the last matchup against the Lakers SGA finished with 55 fantasy points on 12-21 shooting for 34 points and grabbed five rebounds and dished out seven assists. SGA is a bit cheaper than AD tonight, and that is the way I lean for my captain spot tonight.

Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder

On paper, this isn't a good matchup for Chet going head-to-head against AD. However, he really is the Thunder's only option at the five without going small. He fared well in the last game against Anthony Davis and the Lakers. He finished with a 19-10 double-double in 34 minutes finishing with more than 40 fantasy points. Since that game, Chet has not rebounded at that clip only grabbing double-digit rebounds once in his last eight games. I think he gets back on track in this one, and has a big game, putting him in line as a sneaky captain play.

NBA DFS Showdown Utility Top Plays

LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron has been a bit quiet as of late. He has only one double-double in his last seven games. During that span he also has two games in which he scored just 10 and 12 game points, taking a backseat to the likes of Anthony Davis and such. However, in the last game against OKC, he dominated. He went off for 40 game points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out seven assists. LeBron should find his way into your lineup one way or another.

Austin Reaves, Los Angeles Lakers

I was torn on who I wanted to play here between D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves but ultimately landed on Austin Reaves. Russell has been better as of late, but I feel Reaves has the better matchup. They will need him to match up on the likes of SGA. In the last game against OKC, he finished just one assist shy of a double-double. I have no problem playing D-Lo over Reaves tonight because of the scoring potential and he is $400 cheaper, but I am going Reaves if you can afford it.

Jalen Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder

J-Dub is going through a terrific stretch. Over his last five games, he is averaging 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists for 40 fantasy points. He has scored at least 19 points in four of those games. It seems as if he found something in his offensive game, that he is full taking advantage of. But not only has he been scoring which he loves his energy numbers have not taken a hit because of it. In the last matchup against the Lakers, he had a big game as well scoring 28 points.  Williams is locked in for me.

NBA DFS Showdown Value Top Plays

Rui Hachimura, Los Angeles Lakers

With Cam Reddish out for some time, it looks as if Rui Hachimura could be entered into the starting lineup. He is a bit more expensive than I usually like to put in the value section sitting at $5,800. In his five starts this season he has played at least 24 minutes in four of them and scored at least 13 game points. If he is in the starting lineup tonight, he needs to be in your lineup because he has a 30+ fantasy point upside.

Christian Wood, Los Angeles Lakers

Christian Wood is finally a big part of this Lakers rotation. He has played at least 22 minutes in three of his past four games. His defense is what always holds him back. However, in this one, you would like to think he should be able to dominate with his size against this small OKC roster. With Wood putting up at least 24.5 fantasy points in three straight games, and his price sitting at just $4,600, his value is up there tonight. You do not have a ton of solid options under 5K tonight, so Wood is by far your best choice.

Honorable Mention:

  • Max Christie if he gets the nod in the starting lineup over Rui Hachimura tonight.
