Sweet, satisfying, profit making Meat Loaf. How Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets has missed you so, sweet mention of mine. Both player props came through as Grayson Allen was letting them fly from behind the arc, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander worked the foul line to get off the hook.

The underdog Phoenix Suns moneyline looked promising in the first half, and there was opportunity to cash out for profit. The Boston Celtics would quit messing around and pulled away from Phoenix in the third quarter. Yet Meat Loaf was made ‘because… two out of three ain’t bad’.

There are six NBA games today and with the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers playing in back-to-back games, some player props are restricted. There are a few good angles available though, and today’s NBA best bets feature players coming off of rest.

CJ McCollum and the New Orleans Pelicans welcome the Los Angeles Clippers to the Smoothie King Center, and there is a nice player prop on the point guard. The Atlanta Hawks play the Utah Jazz on NBATV in the latest tip-off of the night, 9:30 PM ET.

There will be a player making his second appearance from this game. The Bet of the Night comes from the Denver Nuggets at San Antonio Spurs, and features Denver point guard, Jamal Murray. Friday's NBA best bets can be found below!

Expert NBA Best Bet & Pick Today, 3/15

Jamal Murray Player Props: Over 21.5 Points (-115 on BetMGM)

The Denver Nuggets continue their road tour, in the first of a ‘Texas two step’ (games in San Antonio and Dallas). The San Antonio Spurs are eliminated from the playoffs and the Denver Nuggets are tied for first in the Western Conference. Part of the reason the Spurs were the first team eliminated is their terrible defense.

The Spurs allow the sixth most points to opposing point guards and Jamal Murray is one of the most effective point scorers in the Association. Murray is averaging twenty-one points per game this season, and coming off a game which he did not score well. He has not had back-to-back low scoring games in over a month, and he was dealing with shin splints during that time.

San Antonio allows the second most points in the Western Conference with 119.9 per game, and with Victor Wembanyama being such an elite defender, more could be asked of Jamal Murray tonight. Look for him to bounce back from his fourteen-point performance against the Heat, with twenty-three or more points. The Nuggets have stated they prioritize being the first seed in the Western Conference and must take care of business against the worst team in that conference tonight.

NBA Prop Bets Today, 3/15

CJ McCollum Player Props: Under 16.5 Points (-125 on BetMGM)

The New Orleans Pelicans host the Los Angeles Clippers in what could be a first-round playoff preview. The Clippers are currently in fourth place of the Western Conference, and the Pelicans are three games behind in fifth place. With just one calendar month remaining in the regular season, every game is pivotal but especially head-to-head games.

CJ McCollum has been putting up some odd numbers lately. Thus far in March he has played only one game with thirty or more minutes. He has recorded over fourteen points only once. He has three games with only one assist, and only one game with more than three. His rebounding has been consistent with four games with four, and the most recent with three.

The Clippers do allow the seventh most points to opposing point guards, but the math is not adding up on this proposition bet. There is the chance the Clippers rest their starters for the second of back-to-back games but in such a pivotal game this late in the season Head Coach Tyronn Lue will likely play his starters.

This month has seen a high percentage of bets either win or lose within the hook, but this seems to be an off line. Let’s capitalize on it and expect CJ McCollum to score less than seventeen points.

Clint Capela Player Props: Over 12.5 Points (-125 on BetMGM)

Clint Capela makes a return to Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets, and the first of the 2024 year. Capela is truly underappreciated by NBA fans. He has 6,336 career rebounds and is approaching the top 150 All-time in blocks. Tonight against the Jazz though, the focus is on his points.

The Utah Jazz allow the most points in the Western Conference, 120.7 per game, and the most points to opposing centers. Capela is only averaging 11.3 points per game, but lately has been scoring more. He has covered this line in four of his last five games, despite his minutes staying around his average of 25.3 per game. The Utah Jazz are short handed tonight, and part of the reason centers score so much is offensive rebounds.

Utah is the second highest city in the Association at 4,265 feet. Most NBA teams are at sea level or a few hundred feet above. Due to this, field goal attempts are missed, and legs become tired in the second half. Almost forty-six percent of Capela’s rebounds are offensive, which is truly remarkable.

That takes veteran basketball IQ, knowledge of how to block out your defender, and ultimately giving great effort. An offensive rebound for a 6’ 10” center is almost automatically a put back field goal attempt if not a slam dunk. At the very least it’s a high percentage field goal attempt, which we want for this player prop to be successful.

The Hawks are currently in the play-in as the tenth seed of the Eastern Conference. They are only two games behind the Chicago Bulls for ninth place and would receive a home game should they earn that spot. Every team in the play-in is on a losing streak and no team has won more than five of their last ten games.

The Hawks could move up the rankings as high as seventh, but they have to win the games they are expected to. Tonight is one of those games, and Capela can be the X-factor they need tonight.
