NBA Best Bets Today, 1/13: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Monday

Despite an epic second half comeback by the Denver Nuggets yesterday, Michael Porter only scored four second half points. This fell well short of the 18 points needed for the NBA best bets parlay to be successful.
Nikola Vucevic made a three in the first quarter then could not make the next three attempts, in what was another bad performance for The Well. It was a back-to-back game and that could have had an impact on his performance.
Mark Williams was mentioned in our NBA best bets for the first time and the seven foot Charlotte Hornet delivered. He earned a double-double before the second half, and at +170 essentially made up for the two other predictions. Keeping the loss to 0.3 units.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/13
There is a full slate today as the Los Angeles area resumes basketball operations.
However, it is another match in California that Fantasy Alarm NBA best bets believe is the best bet of the day.
Raptors vs. Warriors Prediction: Scottie Barnes O8.5 Rebounds (+110 on Bet365) *Bet of the Day
Scottie Barnes is back in the column, and as previously mentioned, the most difficult aspect of betting on Barnes is figuring out which of his lines to take advantage of. In today’s match we look at his rebounding.
His rebounding line has positive odds on several sportsbooks, and they moved above his average due to how well he has been rebounding lately. He has recorded 10 and 12 rebounds in his last two games, and the Golden State Warriors allow the sixth most rebounds per game with 53.6.
Barnes has played 36 or more minutes in five of his last six games, and should continue in a close game against the Warriors. The Toronto Raptors have only won one game on the road this season, and will need Barnes to help in all three phases of the game in order to win.
He has been an excellent rebounder against bad rebounding teams, and the Warriors have allowed an average of 55.0 in their last three games. They also allow more rebounds at home than on the road. Scottie Barnes could earn a double-double but at +110 odds to earn 9 rebounds, take the money and run.
Grizzlies vs. Rockets Prediction: Houston -2.5 (-108 on DraftKings)
The Memphis Grizzlies head to the Toyota Center to play the Houston Rockets in what should be a thrilling match. The second and third ranked Western Conference teams are playing in what could be a playoff preview as well.
Each team has a different philosophy about how to produce a win. Memphis is all offense, with a 123.0 points per game average. Houston is more defensive minded, allowing just 107.1 points per game. Memphis has the highest scoring offense and Houston has the second lowest scoring defense.
Houston is on a three game win streak, has won seven of their last ten games, are 13-6 at the Toyota Center, and are 8-1 versus the division. The prediction is for them to move to 9-1 in the Southwest Division with a victory over Memphis. Put a unit on them to do just that.
NBA Player Props & Other Picks Today, 1/13
NBA action is returning to southern California and could be an uplifting moment for the community.
There are two games taking place today, but the next of our NBA picks focuses on a player from the visiting team.
Spurs vs. Lakers Prediction: Victor Wembanyama O10.5 Rebounds (-115 on Bet365)
Fantasy Alarm has stayed away from Victor Wembanyama this season as his lines have been juiced or he has been inconsistent. After a shaky start, he is playing consistent minutes, and his numbers have been more consistent with his averages.
Wembanyama has played 33 or more minutes in eight of his last nine games, and 30 or more in nine of his last ten games. He is on the floor and taking charge by doing what is needed to help his team win. Sometimes it is scoring, sometimes it is defense, and sometimes it is rebounding.
Wembanyama is averaging 10.8 rebounds per game and has 14 or more rebounds in three of his last four games. The Lakers allow 52.0 rebounds per game, which is about the league average, and Wembanyama should be able to earn his average tonight. The Lakers do have a front court that can rebound with the best of the best, but Wembanyama will once again have a massive size advantage over others on the court.
Wembanyama’s double-double line is at -165 if a bettor prefers to drop the hook. Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs are well rested, but Spurs players do not have the concern of their house or teammates/staff/friends' houses being destroyed. Wembanyama should have a clear head and a rested body for this match, and he seems to perform better when the competition is better.
Put a unit on Wembanyama to cover his 10.5 rebounding line tonight.
