NBA Best Bets & Player Props January 31: Quiet Night for Victor Wembanyana
So close, yet so far, on the Pascal Siakam rebounding line and he had two rebounds taken from him by his teammates. The theory was good, the projection was better, as that is the second bet to die on the hook in as many days. Scottie Barnes was a cash, perusal and the double unit should have been placed on the Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets favorite. Today is a special end of the month, all two unit bets evening! There are ten games today, two of which are on ESPN. The Phoenix Suns are the first match and there is a double unit straight bet mentioned today. The second is a Western Conference collision of top three teams. The Denver Nuggets are on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder in what should be a thrilling game. There is also a favorable prop bet in the Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers which has a 7:00 PM ET tip off. The bet of the night features a familiar face, but a new betting angle on the rookie superstar Victor Webanyama.
NBA Bet of the Night
VICTOR WEMBANYAMA UNDER 35.5 POINTS + REBOUNDS -105 DK 2 UNITS
Victor Webanyama is a Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets frequently bet on player. Usually his line involves either blocks, rebounds, or occasionally points…almost always on the over. Although his over 2.5 blocks does seem like another good betting line, the better angle appears to be on his under on the combined points and rebounds. He has not cleared this number in his last three games, and is playing against the team that allows the fewest points, rebounds, assists, and fantasy points to opposing small forwards. The Orlando Magic have quietly put together a good defensive season, allowing a low 111.2 points per game. Although V. Wembanyama’s minutes have gone up, that is a lot of points and rebounds against a tough defensive team. He has also experienced foul trouble in some games, and Paolo Banchero gets to the free throw line often. If V. Wembanyama’s minutes are to dip; it will be in favor of this bet being successful. You have to be true to what the data indicates and V. Wembanyama is due for another night with less than thirty-six points and rebounds.
PROP BET
DONOVAN MITCHELL OVER 2.5 THREES MADE -160 DK 2 UNITS
The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Detroit Pistons and they are teams playing in opposite rhythms. Cleveland has won nine of its last ten games, and a large part of that is Donovan Mitchell. He is back to being an offensive juggernaut with a 27.7 points per game average. He has not been hesitant to release it from behind the arc either. D. Mitchell has ninety-five three point attempts in ten games this month, or an average of 9.5 per game in January. That is an extremely high number even for the modern NBA. He has covered this prop in six of the ten games this month, and with the lack of defense in Detroit, he could cover this prop before the fourth quarter begins. D. Mitchell does not make too many appearances on this column, and even though the line has been heavily juiced it does appear to be a safe bet, if there is such a thing. Taking a smart approach, place a double unit on the shooting of D. Mitchell to return a little over 1.3 units.
STRAIGHT BET
PHOENIX SUNS MONEYLINE -154 FD 2 UNITS
The last of Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets is the first match on ESPN. The Phoenix Suns are starting to be the team that they were hyped up to be in the preseason. The big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal are healthy and D. Booker is leading the way with an incredible hot streak lately. Teammates Grayson Allen and Jusuf Nurkic are providing excellent minutes and excelling in their starting role, as supporting scorers and rebounders. Simply being healthy and playing together has led the Phoenix Suns to eight wins in their last ten games. The Brooklyn Nets are playing subpar basketball at best, have lost seven of their last ten games. They are void of a true superstar, consistent scorers, and players on both sides will be familiar with each other as these two franchises performed a landmark trade that changed the core of each team. The Suns are simply the better team, they have a much better back court, more lethal scorers, and the better center. This line will likely increase throughout the day as more money is bet on the Suns. Take advantage as soon as possible to get better odds.
