Pacers vs. Thunder Predictions For NBA Finals Game 5, 6/16

Not only did the Thunder get the win before heading back to OKC to even the series at 2-2, but it was also their first NBA Finals win on the road in franchise history. Speaking of history, improving to 18-2 following a loss is tied for the best mark in NBA history!

As for hitting our best bet in all four games thus far, we also needed that Thunder victory, as we had a combo of the OKC money line and SGA having 30+ points. The most recent NBA MVP has now had 30+ points in five of six games following a Thunder loss, and it’s all added up to us getting the best NBA Finals we could have asked for.

The series now heads back to OKC where the teams split the first two games, which makes locking in a best bet from our Pacers vs. Thunder predictions take quite a bit of digging!

Indiana Pacers: Coming Up Not-So-Clutch

Before we get that far, more from each team. Starting with the team on the road now brings us to the Pacers. After being voted as the most overrated player in the NBA, Tyrese Haliburton has been on an absolute tear, making fans wonder if he should have been the Clutch Player of the Year after eliminating New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson.

He’s led Indiana to a remarkable 9-1 in clutch time this postseason, and in the NBA Finals specifically, they’ve been amazing in the fourth quarter. Through the first three games, they outscored the Thunder 100-78. However, in Friday night’s Game 4, they scored just 17 points to blow the lead with less than two and half minutes left.

Oklahoma City Thunder: Changing The Approach

On the other side of that comeback was the Thunder. Despite OKC entering the NBA Finals as massive favorites of around -700, the Thunder actually changed their approach. They did so by electing to start Cason Wallace and have Isaiah Hartenstein come off the bench. Well, that was until Game 4.

While they reverted back to the normal starting five, it was the time management of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander that also needed to be noted. Friday night was the first game in the past 10 in which he didn’t play the entire first quarter. It can be argued that the extra rest helped fuel him down the stretch, where he scored 11 points in the last three minutes.

Pacers vs. Thunder Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

Following a Game 4 victory and the NBA Finals heading back to OKC, we see the latest Pacers vs. Thunder odds for Game 5 at Novig having Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company as significant favorites:

Pacers vs. Thunder Best Bet: Myles Turner Over 4.5 Rebounds (-125 at Novig)

Having just shared the latest lines, we’d be remiss to not point out something rather glaring. That would be the decreasing totals we’ve seen throughout the series. After opening at 230.5 points for Game 1, we’re now down to 222.5 points for the current Pacers vs. Thunder odds.

Given that we’ve seen one of the teams remain at 110 or less for all four games thus far, it certainly makes sense. It’s also quite crazy that glossing over a near double-digit underdog in the NBA Finals is the norm, and while Indiana can obviously cover, we’re going to stick with what’s worked for us thus far - player props.

While it was a combo for Game 4, it was straight points props that cashed for us in the first three games. This time, we’re swapping to rebounds and back to the Indiana side of the matchup. In that regard, we’ve got our eyes on Myles Turner. There’s no doubt he’s not a center known for double-digit boards, but we need just five from him in Game 5.

After all, he started the NBA Finals with nine rebounds. Although the OKC defense is known to be a great one, he can still use the physicality against Chet Holmgren, as Turner averaged eight rebounds per game against the Thunder in the regular season.

We know it’s not as flash as our recent SGA pick, but the best bet from our Pacers vs. Thunder predictions for Game 5 is Myles Turner over 4.5 rebounds (-125 at Novig).
