The straight bets strike again. The betting community as a whole should be upset at the lack of player propositions the sportsbooks offered. Brandon Ingarm scored 31 points, and that was the bet we wanted. Instead, we were limited to straight bets. The #FAmily is angry enough to throw a straw through a telephone pole. However, we must channel that into a focus on revenge against the sportsbooks.

Today, we defy their request for more straight bets, and counter with three player props on three of the four best players on the court today. We wanted another Collin Gillespie line, but of course, the sportsbooks are not giving options.

Phoenix Suns vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Wednesday 12/10

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is an elite scorer. He is the reigning MVP, and along with the Oklahoma City Thunder, hosts the Phoenix Suns at the Paycom Center. It is the first nationally televised match today, and the Thunder are expected to blow out Phoenix. A -14.5 point spread is in favor of the home team. 

For that to happen, their best scorer needs to be their best scorer. Gilgeous-Alexander must score from the three-point line, from driving in the lane, from the mid-range, and on the foul line. Luckily, he excels at all those forms of scoring. A line of 31.5 seems low, but the total did not go over in either game yesterday. However, the Thunder are not an Eastern Conference team. They are a Western Conference team, and that means points.

The second player discussed in today’s best bets is Austin Reaves. The Robin to Luka Doncic’s Batman is not Lebron James, but Austin Reaves. The Arkansas kid is having a career year with more opportunities and involvement. His contract expires at the end of the season, and Reaves is playing like someone who bet on himself. 

He is averaging 28.4 points per game and has scored over 23.5 in seven of his last ten games. Reaves should score his average or more against the San Antonio Spurs today. The notorious Lakers home whistle could help boost his points, but 8 field goals is the metric. In his past ten games, in every game that Reaves has had more than seven field goal attempts, he has gone over this line.

NBA Prop Bet Today, 12/10 

LeBron James is back in the NBA Cup, and could cement his Cup legacy with another NBA Cup victory. Winning two of the first three would be a special achievement. One that Reaves, James, and Rui Hachimura could share together. Some are saying that James has fallen off a cliff, but those critics have been foaming at the mouth for years. Eagerly awaiting a drop in production to lambast James, but that fall has never arrived.

Those critics forget that he missed the first month of the NBA with a legitimate injury. And in truth is working his way back to a better version of himself. He has recorded over 5.5 rebounds in four of his last six games. However, he also has games with 0, 3, and 5 rebounds. The San Antonio Spurs are a top-six rebounding team, even without Victor Wembanyama. It will be difficult to grab loose offensive rebounds.

James will be more of a post-up scorer and facilitator than a battling and banging power forward. Put a unit on under 5.5 rebounds in today’s NBA Cup game.
