LaMelo Ball did not play against the New Orleans Pelicans yesterday, and that bet was voided. Nikola Vucevic made the game-winning three-point field goal for the Chicago Bulls. However, he did not make another, going 1 of 5 from behind the arc. The Orlando Magic were destroyed by the Atlanta Hawks in a surprise blowout victory. And the Los Angeles Clippers jumped out to an early lead against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Yet Oklahoma City controlled the second half, including an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter.

It was a rough beginning for the third day of the week, but today will be a better day. Yesterday’s double-unit wager essentially made it even. There is a full slate today with 11 games. Some teams are playing in back-to-back games, but the best bets today focus on teams coming off a day’s rest. The first best bet features two of the worst teams in the Association.

NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/5

Brooklyn Nets vs Indiana Pacers Prediction: Wednesday 11/5

Game Time: 7:00 PM ET | TV: NBA League Pass | Location: Gainbridge Fieldhouse | Odds: IND -7.0 | O/U 233.5

The Indiana Pacers host the Brooklyn Nets tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Nets are still seeking their first win and are the only team without a win. The Pacers are not doing much better, as they are 1 - 6. The sportsbooks have this game set with a -7.0 spread favored towards the Pacers. They have played better than their 1 - 6 record suggests. Brooklyn, meanwhile, plays like a 0 - 7 team.

The Pacers have a long list of injuries across their team. This can happen to teams after a long season that included seven games in the NBA Finals. They are decimated in their front and back courts, and that has led to their 112.9 points per game average. The Nets do not have a true point guard. Porter Jr. led the team in assists prior to his injury. They have an extremely young team that is attempting to learn not only the NBA but also each other. This has led them to 111.9 points per game.

Although they both allow several points, the expectation is for them to score less than 233.5. That is almost 10 points more than their combined average, and does not seem obtainable for two bad offensive teams. Put a unit on the under between the two worst Eastern Conference teams.

San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction: Wednesday 11/5

Game Time: 10:00 PM ET | TV: ESPN | Location: Crypto.com Arena | Odds:LA -3.0 | O/U: 228.5

The Los Angeles Lakers are fresh off a come-from-behind victory against the Portland Trail Blazers. They now host the San Antonio Spurs, who are coming off a surprising loss against the Phoenix Suns. Two teams that are led by potential MVP candidates. Victor Wembanyama is a special player, but the Lakers have much more depth behind their star Luka Doncic.

Head Coach JJ Reddick is getting the best out of Deandre Ayton, who is playing above his average. Rui Hachimura plays with high intensity, per usual, and Austin Reaves has elevated his game to another level. Jake LaRavia has been a pleasant surprise, and Bronny James (yes, seriously) has contributed with meaningful minutes.

Luka Doncic is expected to play, and he is going to be a mismatch for the Spurs' backcourt. He is averaging 41.3 points per game in 38.3 minutes per game. He’s scoring more than a point per minute, while averaging 11.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. It’s Doncic’s eighth season, and his greatness is taken for granted. He will be a difference maker in this match. Put a unit on this best bet today, and watch it on ESPN tonight.

NBA Prop Bets Today, 11/5

The big man is playing his former team, but he has played the Phoenix Suns a few times. Now he gets to experience the rivalry between the Lakers and the Suns from a Los Angeles perspective. The Lakers have been playing well, and part of that is due to Ayton.

He will be joined by great rebounders with the return of Doncic and Reaves. Hachimura is a great rebounding presence, too. The Spurs average the fifth most rebounds per game as well, and Wembanyama is a great rebounder. That will force Ayton to earn fewer rebounds as he is challenged by both his teammates and the Spurs. Put a unit on this player prop.

The last NBA best bet today is on Reed Sheppard of the Houston Rockets. The Rockets play the Memphis Grizzlies, whom this column has continuously attacked. Sheppard is far from the best player on the roster, but playing impactful minutes.  If the Rockets are up by a significant amount, Sheppard's minutes are likely to increase.

However, this best bet is not limited to the Rockets having a positive game script. Sheppard has scored over 7.5 points in four of Houston’s six games. He is averaging 20.5 minutes per game and 9.5 points per game. Put a unit on this best bet, and expect Sheppard to cover it.
