We have a beautiful slate of fantasy baseball on our hands this Friday, June 3rd evening. There are a lot of MLB DFS top plays as well as fantastic MLB player props we’re going to want to take a look at. Over on Underdog Fantasy, there are plenty of places we should take a look at and I’m honing in on some big names like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Shane Bieber, and Nathan Eovaldi. Each of their MLB player props is solid and are spots we can take advantage of in daily fantasy baseball lineups as well. For updates for any games potentially impacted by weather, be sure to keep tabs on our MLB Weather Center to find out more as we approach roster lock. Another great tool as we get teams posting their lineups is our MLB Lineups page to find out who's in and who's not. Our MLB DFS Player Projections, powered by FanJections, are set for today's slate and give you a good idea of who’s going to have a big day and who’s not.
MLB Player Prop Plays Underdog Fantasy June 3
Nathan Eovaldi OVER 5.5 strikeouts
In 10 starts this season, Nathan Eovaldi has topped 5.5 strikeouts in seven of them, including in two straight starts. He now faces off against an Oakland Athletics team that has the seventh highest K-rate in the league against right-handed pitching, at 23.9%.
Since arriving in Boston, Eovaldi has had a 25% K-rate or better in three straight seasons, which he’s done this season once again. It’s hard not to love the way Boston uses Eovaldi either, tossing 100-plus pitches in back-to-back starts and has thrown 95 or more in five of his last six starts. Eovaldi is in a great spot here.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. OVER 8.5 fantasy points
The match-up doesn’t get much better than this one for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as he faces off against career journeyman, Chi Chi González. Gonzalez has a career ERA of 5.64 and has pitched to a 6.54 ERA or worse for two straight seasons. Gonzalez hasn’t pitched at the major league level this year, but in 2021, right-handed hitters had a .317/.367/.630 slash with 12 HR across 48.1 IP.
When it comes to Guerrero Jr., Guerrero has hit nine of his 10 home runs this season against right-handed pitching and he has a .358 wOBA to boot. Guerrero, just a year ago, hit 37 home runs and had a 1.020 OPS, .303 ISO, and a .424 wOBA against RHP, so to say he’s better against same-handed pitching might be pretty accurate.
Shane Bieber OVER 18.0 pitching outs
We’re really getting the Cy Young version of Shane Bieber once again, especially lately. He threw eight innings last start, seven in the start before. He’s now topped seven innings in three of his last five starts and has gotten 19 or more outs in four of his last six games.
On the year, Baltimore is 21st in OPS and wOBA and 19th in ISO against right-handed pitching. They have been slightly better of late, but they don’t play in the best hitting park anymore as Camden Yards is 18th in the league in runs per game. Bieber’s ability to throw strikes, keep his pitch count down, and mow opposing lineups down makes me believe he should hit this number with a little ease.
