We now have over two and a half months of Major League Baseball data to look at and that just means more confidence as we look over the MLB props board at Underdog Fantasy. First, Gerrit Cole is in a matchup against a high-strikeout Tampa Rays offense that he has tamed twice in his last four starts. Then we have some big offense on the slate tonight and hitters like Mike Trout and Rafael Devers that are in elite hitting spots against sub-par pitching.

Gerrit Cole (NYY) - OVER 8.0 Strikeouts

Gerrit Cole will be in a pitchers’ duel tonight with Shane McClanahan of the Rays. As the weather gets warmer Cole will get better and tonight, he is in a great spot at Tropicana Field, a pitcher’s park. The Rays are the 26th worst team in the majors in strikeouts against right-handed pitching with a 25.0% K rate. Meanwhile, Cole comes into the game with a 33.9% strikeout rate over his last five starts (12.3 K/9) and two of his last four starts have been against this same Rays offense where he has proceeded to strike out 17 in 12 innings. I’m all in on the Cole over tonight.
 

 

Mike Trout - OVER 1.5 Total Bases

I will continue to play the Trout over prop very game. He is the hottest hitter on the planet with five home runs over his last five games with 38 RBIs in his last 39 plate appearances. He also has hits in 9 of his last 11 games and in that same span he has eight home runs and 15 RBI.  Tonight, he faces left-handed Kris Bubic, a left0-hander that has does nothing but struggle. Bubic comes in with a 5.40 XFIP, a sub 20% strikeout rate (17.9%) and 43.5% hard hit rate. He will have his hands full with the entire Angels lineup especially Trout who has elite advanced metrics against southpaws- .333 ISO/.481wOBA with a 45% flyball and 40% hard hit rate. Do not be surprised to see a sixth home run in six games tonight from baseball best hitter. 

 

 

Rafael Devers (BOS) - OVER 1.5 Total Bases

Rafael Devers has been tearing it up over the last month and get as an elite matchup against Alex Faedo and the Tigers bullpen. He has a .330 average over the last 30 days with 9 HR/21 RBI and a .333 ISO/.457wOBA. Against right-handed pitching he is crushing with a .292 ISO/.419wOBA and 43% hard contact. Faedo has not been a very good pitcher with a 5.05xFIP, sub 20% strikeout rate (19.3%) and is allowing 40%+ of both flyball and hard contact rates. Devers is in a crush spot for the 1.5 over total bases prop.
