Tonight gives us a nicely sized eight game MLB DFS main slate to work with, but it should be noted that Coors Field will be a factor that looms large. We do have strong starting pitching options in Clayton Kershaw and Framber Valdez at the top of the list, but that means we also have to crunch the numbers and search for those values. While that is being done, we also must stay up to date on the latest MLB news, MLB weather, and MLB lineups throughout the day leading up to lineup lock. Now it is time to take a look at some MLB DFS value options.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Alex Cobb (SF); DraftKings - $7,500

The dependable veteran starting pitcher takes the mound tonight in Arizona having posted a 2.46 ERA over his last 10 starts with 62 strikeouts in 58.2 innings. When it comes to team offense, the Diamondbacks rank in the middle of the pack while striking out 22.1% of the time but there is no one in their lineup that truly generates fear despite having some interesting young hitters. Cobb has shown the ability to get out of, and stay out of, trouble this season with 60.2% ground ball rate while walking less than three batters per nine innings and allowing just 0.60 home runs per nine innings. Even more impressive might be the opponent’s barrel-rate of just 3.6% against Cobb while giving up an average launch angle of just 1.6 degrees.

Logan Gilbert (SEA); DraftKings - $8,500

When it comes to the Wild Card race, things are getting a lot more interesting than the Mariners may have bargained for and they are in need of a victory tonight against Kansas City. What better option to have on the mound than Gilbert who struck out 11 batters over six innings in his last start against the Angels while allowing just one run and picking up his 13th victory of the season. Gilbert strikes out about a batter per inning this season, but the upside is there and that is what we are looking for from the DFS perspective to go along with his 3.13 ERA (3.34 FIP).

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Will Brennan, OF (CLE); DraftKings - $2,300; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $8

The young outfielder earned his promotion to the big leagues by hitting .311 in Double-A this year followed by .316 in Triple-A and he is hitting .364 in his first three games with Cleveland. Brennan is not necessarily a power hitter but he did have 13 home runs in 129 minor leagues while more importantly filling the stat sheet across the board with 20 stolen bases, 107 RBI, and 69 runs scored. In his three games with the Guardians, Brennan already has three RBI and two stolen bases and it is hard to argue with the price tonight in a favorable matchup against Glenn Otto

Kerry Carpenter, OF (DET); DraftKings - $2,700; FanDuel - $2,900; Yahoo - $11

Carpenter is another cheap, young outfielder to target tonight as he too has a favorable pitching matchup as he faces Davis Martin with the wind expected to be blowing out in Chicago. The outfielder has done a good job of producing in the middle of the order for Detroit since his promotion and he has home runs in two of his last three games with six overall. Five of Carpenter’s six home runs have come with the platoon advantage, as has tonight, and he is hitting .278 against right-handed pitching.

Dylan Moore, SS/OF (SEA); DraftKings - $3,200; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $13

Kansas City’s starter for tonight, Kris Bubic, is another arm to target and Moore provides us with the opportunity to do that while saving some salary cap space as he is essentially minimum price on FD. Moore has hits in three of his last five games that he has played in this month so there is some measure of riding the hot hand and he also enjoys a clear advantage against left-handed pitching batting .244 compared to .189 with essentially the same production in the counting categories despite less at bats.

Ezequiel Tovar, SS (COL); DraftKings - $2,000; FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $14

Tovar certainly earned his promotion to the major leagues and he had a soft-landing spot as he got to make his major league debut in Coors Field. The good news is that none of that, or what he did in his debut on Friday, is factored into his pricing tonight. In his debut, Tovar went two for four with a run scored and I am looking to strike once again here as this also provides cheap exposure to Coors Field.
