As we celebrate the Fourth of July, the baseball schedule is all over the place today. Perhaps one of the most shocking items is the fact that the New York Yankees are off today and there will not be a baseball game played in New York. As I get off my soapbox, we do have a nice seven game MLB DFS main slate across all three sites tonight. Let’s follow along with the latest MLB news, MLB lineups, and MLB weather throughout the day on the quest for some MLB DFS value options.

DFS Value Pitchers

Cole Irvin (OAK); DraftKings - $7,600; FanDuel - $7,800; Yahoo - $27

No, I have not gone completely mad and I am aware that Irvin is facing Toronto today. It is, however, coming in Oakland though, where Irvin sports a 1.57 ERA through 34.1 innings so far this season. Irvin has yet to allow a home run at home so far this season and opposing hitters are hitting just .220 against him there. He has a better ground ball rate at home compared to the road (44.6% vs. 36.8%) as well as hard-hit rate (27.2% vs. 34.3%) and that places him right on my radar for today.

Julio Urías (LAD); DraftKings - $8,300; FanDuel - $9,500; Yahoo - $51

The price on Yahoo is anything but a value, but Urias is fairly priced. Even at his FD price, you could make a case that there is still some discount involved, but this is really based on what we are getting at DK as I would expect to see the left-hander extremely high owned tonight. Urias gets to face a Rockies team away from Coors Field and it’s unclear to me how he is cheaper than Hunter Greene. Yes, Urias did allow three runs on six hits in 5.1 innings in his last start, but he still managed 15.8 DK points thanks to picking up his sixth victory of the season. Overall, success has found Urias this season with a 2.64 ERA and just under a strikeout per inning.

DFS Value Hitters

Michael Harris, OF (ATL); DraftKings - $3,200; FanDuel - $3,200; Yahoo - $18

I know all about Harris’ .371 BABIP which is seemingly supporting his .306 batting average, but it is hard to argue with the results that we are seeing from the rookie outfielder who was promoted with a fair amount of buzz. Throughout his minor league career, Harris has consistently sported a high BABIP while hitting over .300 so it shouldn’t come as a complete surprise. Yesterday saw Harris go deep for the fifth time in his career, 34 games, to go along with four stolen bases, 19 RBI, and 22 runs scored. Stacking Atlanta bats against Dakota Hudson has value tonight, and Harris is an affordable piece of the puzzle.

Gavin Sheets, 1B/OF (CWS); DraftKings - $2,200; FanDuel - $2,200; Yahoo - $12

Dylan Bundy brings a 4.71 ERA into tonight’s start against Chicago while allowing 1.4 home runs per nine innings so far this season so it’s not a surprise that the White Sox are expected to score just under five runs. Sheets has driven in five runs over the last two days and his hitting .303 over his last 10 games. In 27.2 innings, left-handed batters are hitting .292 against Bundy so far this season and the platoon splits work in the same direction for Sheets who has hit all five of his home runs against right-handers.

Eduardo Escobar, 3B (NYM); DraftKings - $3,800; FanDuel - $2,800; Yahoo - $16

After going through an extremely rough patch, Escobar has now gone deep in three straight games and tonight gets to hit in the friendly confines of the Reds’ home park against a pitcher in Hunter Greene who has allowed 2.43 home runs per nine innings so far this season. Escobar has proven to be a streaky hitter throughout his career and there is a proven track record of success here despite the .224 batting average on the season. He has driven in 34 runs while hitting nine home runs overall, and the thought process now is that he will find his groove.

Jose Miranda, 1B/3B (MIN); DraftKings - $2,400; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $10

Miranda saw a seven-game hitting streak come to a close yesterday, and I’m not sure that many are truly afraid of Johnny Cueto despite his 3.33 ERA (4.22 xERA). Over his last 10 games, Miranda is hitting a solid .276 with six RBI and has 22 RBI in 47 games so far this season and it’s hard to argue with the price tonight.
