Happy Sunday and no better way to end your weekend than with some major league baseball! Sunday baseball has a reputation for being out of the ordinary, so fantasy baseball managers must be on their toes as they build their MLB DFS lineups. Today’s DFS slate starts at 1:35p ET on DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo Fantasy. DraftKings and FanDuel will both cover nine games while Yahoo brings us 14 games throughout the afternoon. The weather forecast looks pretty good besides some questions in the Twins/Tigers game, so far but make sure to check our MLB Weather Center before lock. We also have MLB Lineups, MLB Vegas Odds plus projections and a lineup builder in our DFS Alarm MLB Tools page. To get the big arms and bats in your lineups you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point per dollar plays on the slate. So let’s get right into it and open Sunday’s MLB DFS Value Vault...

DFS PITCHING VALUES

Nick Lodolo (CIN) $7.1K DK/$35 Yahoo

Nick Lodolo of the Reds has a future ahead of him especially as a pitcher with mega strikeout potential. Like most young pitchers he is volatile and there is always the chance that he may implode but with a 30.5% strikeout rate and 3.94xFIP he has a chance to nuke the slate against Baltimore today. The Orioles have a team 25.4% K rate against lefties (third worst in baseball) and a .296wOBA (26th ranked). Lodolo is 3-3 with a 4.73 ERA but you got to love the 13.08 K/9 especially as he is coming off a nine strikeout in six innings win over Miami last week (31 DKFP). The Orioles should be trotting out a lefty heavy lineup today and even though he will be pitching in a hitters park I can see Lodolo as a popular SP2 today on DraftKings.

Jordan Montgomery (NYY) $7.3K DK/$8.8K FD

Jordan Montgomery is never one of my favorite choices but despite a large slate, the value choices at pitcher are slim today. J-Mo is facing a Royals team that does not strike out in bunches, but the overall offense is not exactly scary. Montgomery has a solid 4.14xFIP on the season with a near elite 4.7% walk rate but what is most impressive is the 48% groundball rate. Montgomery also has been so good against left-handed bats this season holding them to a .057 ISO/.182wOBA with a 29.6% K rate and only 28% hard contact. With a Royals lineup that features right-handed bats like Whit Merrifield, Bobby Witt Jr and Sal Perez I would suggest using J-Mo in tournaments only but he could very well have enough in the tank today to pull out a win for the Yankees.

DFS HITTING VALUES

Paul DeJong (STL) $3.0K DK/$2.0K FD/$8 Yahoo

Paul DeJong is a former MLB All-Star that was demoted to Class AAA Memphis earlier this season after a very slow start. Before his call-up on Friday, he had hit three home runs in three days and 17 homers total. The power surge obviously caught Cards management attention as he hit .351 with a .784 slugging percentage in 37 at-bats this month, and in 50 total games for Triple-A Memphis has slugged .533 with an .840 OPS and 16 home runs. DeJong finally played his first game back in The Show yesterday and promptly kept his power surge alive with another bomb (18 DKFP). Today he will be facing Josiah Gray and the Nationals and is a lock on FanDuel at only $2K.

Seth Brown (OAK) $2.9K DK/$2.7K FD/$9 Yahoo

It’s a matchup against Dylan Cease but Seth Brown has been raking. He has hit a home run three times in the first two games of this series with the White Sox and is currently hitting .440 over the last week. Brown has quietly been a righty crusher this season with a .238 ISO and hard contact/fly ball rate both north of 40%. Over his last 15 games he is hitting .321 with at least one hit in 14 of them with multiple hits in five of his last seven. Boom or bust today but Brown will be a fine cheap and low owned one-off in GPPs today.
