We now have a few games back under our belt after the All-Star break and the only option is to keep on having fun, but most of all, staying profitable. For our purposes, we are considering the five-game slate that begins at 6:40 on the east coast as tonight’s MLB DFS main slate. Max Scherzer pitches tonight as part of the Subway Series in New York and Luis Castillo takes the mound for what could be his last start for Cincinnati as two of the biggest stories. It is important to stay up to date on all of the latest MLB news, MLB lineups, and MLB weather as we search for those valuable MLB DFS value picks.

DFS Value Pitchers

Drew Rasmussen (TB); DraftKings - $7,300; FanDuel - $7,300; Yahoo - $38

Rasmussen is currently working on a streak of three straight solid outings in which he has put up between 14.5 and 17.4 DK points as the right-hander allowed a total of four runs in 14 innings while striking out 15. Things have gone pretty well for Rasmussen in general this season with a 3.01 ERA and 1.15 WHIP proving to be a dependable option for both Tampa Bay and fantasy managers. With a 3.65 FIP, what you see out of Rasmussen should be what you get as he does limit the walks (2.55 per nine innings) while striking out 7.65 batters per nine innings. With a 9.1-degree launch angle against him, Rasmussen generally does not get into too much trouble and 7.8%-barrel rate also helps to limit the damage.

Braxton Garrett (MIA); DraftKings - $7,900; FanDuel - $8,200; Yahoo - $33

Targeting the Reds’ offense this season is always going to be an attractive strategy but we are also going with the hot hand in Garrett. The left-hander has at least 19.5 DK points in three of his last four starts with a high of 31.9 points as things have been going well for Garrett as of late. In his last two outings, both against Pittsburgh, Garrett has allowed just one run in 12 innings while striking out 18 batters and scattering just four hits and three walks. In 47.1 innings so far this year, nine starts, the former first round pick is striking out a batter per inning while walking just 2.09 batters per innings and posting a 3.42 ERA (3.46 FIP) and 1.14 WHIP.

DFS Value Hitters

Albert Pujols, 1B (STL); DraftKings - $2,200; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $10

Pujols is in line for another start in Toronto tonight as the Cardinals are once again shorthanded, and that means we have a valuable opportunity in front of us. The veteran has hits in all three games since his return from the Home Run Derby and while he is batting just .228 on the season, the future Hall of Famer is still batting in the middle of the order for St. Louis. In 183 plate appearances this season, Pujols has six home runs and 21 RBI so there is still the potential he turns back the clock and gets a hold of one as we saw last week. In fairness to Pujols, he has an 8.6%-barrel rate and it is hard to argue with his 46.1% hard hit rate.

JJ Bleday, OF (MIA); DraftKings - $2,100; FanDuel - $2,200; Yahoo - $14

Bleday has a tough matchup in Castillo as he heads into the fourth game of his major league career. While Bleday did go deep 20 times in Triple-A prior to his promotion along with 52 RBI and 54 runs scored he also hit .228 with a 27% strikeout rate so our expectations must be adjusted accordingly. At this price though it is hard to ignore Bleday as he looks for his first home run and RBI after picking up three hits (two doubles) in his first 14 at bats.

Franmil Reyes, OF (CLE); DraftKings - $3,300; FanDuel - $2,300; Yahoo - $11

I am sure everyone knows what happened to Nathan Eovaldi in his last time out, so while a repeat is highly unlikely, I am not against looking to go against him once again. Things have not gone according to plan for Reyes at all this season, but he does enter Wednesday refreshed after a night off and with nine home runs in 64 games there is always the possibility Reyes goes deep and shows what he can do as a run producer. Reyes does have a career high 12.1-degree launch angle and both his 16.2%-barrel rate and 52.1% hard hit rate suggests that he should be doing better right now.

Xander Bogaerts, SS (BOS); DraftKings - $5,100; FanDuel - $2,900; Yahoo - $11

While the DK price for Bogaerts does not represent a value in the sense that we normally look at things here, a Boston stack against Cal Quantrill is a viable option tonight, and the shortstop is not too cost prohibitive. But then what about that price on the other two sites? While you might be left wanting more overall for Bogaerts over this year, he is still hitting .317 and that cannot be argued with even if it comes with just seven home runs and 39 RBI. Bogaerts has hits in four straight games and he is coming off a three hit performance last night and I am not looking to argue with this skill set at this price.
