We have ourselves a 12-game main slate this evening, and regardless of whether you’re making MLB DFS lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, or Yahoo, I have some value options for your lineups. I love Houston bats this evening and are my favorite MLB DFS stack tonight, but none of my favorite pieces qualify for the Value Vault. However, Atlanta should get to José Ureña, and there’s one bat in particular in that lineup that is a must-start in your DraftKings lineups. Here are the best value plays for the main slate on Tuesday, August 30.

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Matt Manning, DET ($8,800 FD/$6,700 DK/$36 Yahoo) 

To be honest, I like both pitchers in this matchup, but you can save a little bit of money with Manning. In five starts since returning to the rotation, Manning has a 2.40 ERA (3.09 FIP), with at least five strikeouts in four of those five outings. Over the last two weeks, the Mariners have the 12th-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers, and their .212 batting average is the eighth-lowest. The price point on DraftKings in particular is incredibly enticing.

Jameson Taillon, NYY ($8,700 FD/$7,700 DK/$37 Yahoo)

Shohei Ohtani may have good BvP numbers against Taillon, and Trout’s presence in the lineup is felt, but this lineup still stinks. They have the league’s highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching over the last two weeks, and despite a 100 wRC+ mark, they have a measly .239 average and .286 OBP. Taillon has three straight quality starts on the road, and over his last four starts in general, he has a 3.60 ERA. The Angels should play up his strikeout numbers a bit, and in his lone start against them this year, he went eight strong innings with five strikeouts and allowed just one earned run on two hits.

 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Nelson Cruz, WSH ($2,600 FD/$3,200 DK/$10 Yahoo)

I like Cole Irvin a good deal, but he’s a different pitcher away from his home park. He has a 4.88 ERA on the road this year, compared to a 1.94 mark at home, and on the road versus right-handed hitters this season, he’s allowed a .282 batting average, .547 SLG, .365 wOBA, and a 2.22 HR/9. Cruz has a .771 OPS versus southpaws this season and the veteran slugger has a .396 SLG over the last 14 days. In just the month of August, he’s hitting .417 with a 1.131 OPS against southpaws.

Joey Meneses, WSH ($3,000 FD)

Right-handed hitters have gotten the best of Cole Irvin when he’s pitched on the road this season, as you read above. Meneses has a 1.116 OPS against southpaws this season and a .862 OPS and .182 ISO in his home park. He’s rocking an eight-game hit streak, and during these eight games, he’s slashed .355/.394/.516 with one home run, two doubles, six runs scored, and two RBI.

Seiya Suzuki, CHC ($2,800 FD/$12 Yahoo)

Kevin Gausman has a 4.63 ERA in his home park this season, and the numbers say he’d much rather pitch on the road. He’s allowed a .324 batting average and .480 SLG in his home park, and overall for the season, right-handed hitters have slashed .300/.340/.413 against him. Suzuki has a .262 batting average and .743 OPS against righties this season, and he’s hitting .327 with a .462 SLG and 147 wRC+ over his last 15 games.

Oneil Cruz, PIT ($2,800 FD/$4,000 DK/$13 Yahoo)

Cruz should always be in play when facing an average right-hander, particularly one who struggles against lefties. When Cruz makes contact, there’s a good chance that good things happen, considering he boasts elite exit velocity. Beyond his 100th percentile max exit velocity, he has a .452 SLG and .244 ISO against right-handed pitching in 2022. The budding star has hit safely in seven of his last nine contests.

Vaughn Grissom, ATL ($3,300 FD/$2,800 DK)

You want left-handed hitters against José Ureña, but I’ll make the exception for Grissom, as he has a .400 batting average at home and a .340 batting average against right-handed pitchers. José Ureña stinks and this Atlanta lineup will destroy him this evening. Grissom is incredibly affordable this evening, especially on DraftKings.
