MLB DFS 8/29 – Tonight’s slate is consistent across the board on Yahoo and FanDuel as they will both use a 6-game slate that starts at 7:07 pm ET. DraftKings is taking a slightly different approach as they are using an 8-game slate with a 6:40 pm ET start time. There are a few elite arms on this slate, so finding strong value plays will be pivotal; a, most likely, chalk Lars Nootbaar is a perfect option on DK, but there’s plenty of others as well. We don’t appear to have any mlb weather concerns on this slate, which is nice, but still make sure to check the weather center leading up to first pitch. Lastly, don’t forget to check out mlb implied runs totals using our Vegas Odds link and to use our mlb dfs lineup generator. Let’s dive into our mlb dfs picks today!

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Brayan Bello, Red Sox (DraftKings - $5600 / Yahoo - $25)

Bello has pitched FAR better than his surface stats indicate and he finally wasn’t super unlucky in his last start as he pitched very well against a strong Toronto lineup, firing five innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts. He has good stuff and he has 22 Ks in 22 big league innings thus far. The Twins are a slightly below-average matchup, ranking 19th in strikeout rate and 14th in runs per game, so it’s not the worst of spots.

José Berríos, Blue Jays (DraftKings - $7600 / FanDuel - $8500)

Berrios is coming off back-to-back strong games, scoring 30.2 and 17.9 dk point with at least 6 Ks in each. He has been a far better pitcher at home this year than on the road with a 4.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 17 dk ppg average, compared to a 6.48 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 8.4 dk ppg average on the road. The Cubs are 22nd in runs per game and have the 9th highest strikeout rate, so this is a prime spot for Berrios.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Lars Nootbaar, Cardinals (DraftKings - $3000)

The amount of times I have done a DFS breakdown on Nootbaar has to be astronomical at this point, but he just continues to be severely underpriced. Noot is slashing .324/.432/.703 over his last 10 games with three home runs, three doubles, seven walks, and 15 total R+RBI. He has been fantastic out of the leadoff spot this season and the Cardinals are a no-brainer stack today against an awful pitcher in Anderson. Nootbaar has also been much better on the road this year with a .919 OPS, compared to a .707 OPS at home, and the Reds ballpark is a dream field for offense.

Garrett Mitchell, Brewers (DraftKings - $2000 / FanDuel - $2000 / Yahoo - $8)

Mitchell made his first start yesterday and it went well as he went 1-4 with a run and two RBI. In 20 games at AAA, prior to his call-up, he was slashing .342/.435/.466 with a home run and nine steals. It is easy to love the entire Brewers offense against a bad pitcher in Eickhoff, who was tagged for 10 hits and 10 runs across 4.1 innings in his only outing of the year to this point.

Stone Garrett, Diamondbacks (DraftKings - $2200 / FanDuel - $2800)

Garrett has been fantastic through five games, going 7-18 (.389) with a home run, a steal, three doubles, and six total R+RBI. He was also very strong at AAA prior to his call-up, hitting .275 with 28 home runs and 15 stolen bases across 103 games. He does have a bit of a tougher matchup against Suarez, but not enough so to scare me away from play Garrett at this cheap of a price.

Other Potential Value Plays

Corbin Carroll, Diamondbacks (DraftKings - $2000)

Oswaldo Cabrera, Yankees (DraftKings - $2300 / FanDuel - $2700 / Yahoo - $11)

Bo Bichette, Blue Jays (Yahoo - $12)

Rafael Devers, Red Sox (Yahoo - $12)
