Welcome to Tuesday baseball! Today we get a big 12-game main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel, kicking off at 4:05 PM EST. A lot of great pitchers are taking the mound today, with it being headlined by Kevin Gausman, Mitch Keller, Hunter Brown, and Logan Gilbert. With so many great pitchers getting a start today, there is a chance to get some really good pitchers at lower prices today who could provide great value. On the offensive side, my favorite places to target include the Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Angels. With so many games to choose from, there are plenty of ways to construct a winning DFS lineup today, whether you are participating in cash games or gpp tournaments. Whichever way you go, you will need some value plays, so let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day! 

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Joe Musgrove, San Diego Padres 

Joe Musgrove hasn’t been incredible, but he certainly hasn’t been bad. He has had to face some tough opponents, and while the strikeouts haven’t really been there, yet he still has been pitching well. The slider hasn’t really been there for him yet, and if he can get a feel for that again the strikeouts should tick up again. Joe Musgrove provides great upside, and it seems insane that he is priced this low. It is only a matter of time before Joe Musgrove puts together a big outing, and at this price, it doesn’t need to be great to return good value. 

Freddy Peralta, Milwaukee Brewers

Here we have another pitcher who has incredible upside at his price today. Peralta has also been struggling a little lately, not getting over 4 strikeouts in his last 4 outings. He already has a 10-strikeout game this year, though, and we know how good Peralta can be when he is pitching well. Facing Baltimore isn’t the easiest task, but the upside is still so high with Peralta, and his skills are so good that I am willing to bet that he can put together a good outing today to return his value at this price easily.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Yan Gomes, C Chicago Cubs

Yan Gomes has been fantastic against left-handed pitching this year. He has a 1.122 OPS against lefties this year, as well as 5 home runs. Facing Tyler Anderson should be a great chance for him to keep up this strong season against left-handers. Anderson has a 5.47 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP on the season and should give the Chicago Cubs a good chance to put up some runs today, and Yan Gomes will hopefully keep up the fantastic hitting he has done so far this season. 

Andres Gimenez, 2B Cleveland Guardians 

Andres Gimenez has some extreme reverse splits, which give him a favorable matchup today. While he has been terrible against right-handed pitching this season, he is still slashing .352/.435/.519 against lefties. While James Paxton has looked really strong so far this season, he isn’t a pitcher I am willing to trust yet fully, and I am definitely willing to bet on Gimenez in this matchup to be a really good value.

Ezequiel Tovar, SS Colorado Rockies 

Ezequiel Tovar is coming off a fantastic road trip. In their last 7 games on the road, Tovar has 10 hits and is slashing .385/.429/.692 in Arizona and Kansas City. Now he gets to return to Coors and will have a great chance to keep up this stretch of great hitting. He will be facing John Brebbia as the opener, with Sean Manaea following. This should be a good matchup for him getting the lefty as the main pitcher, and Manaea has been struggling this season as well. Tovar is an incredibly cheap option at SS for someone hitting this well and getting to play in Coors. 

Jack Suwinski, OF Pittsburgh Pirates

Jack Suwinski is slashing a fantastic .310/.394/.724 over the last 10 games, including 2 multi-homer games. He has been hitting right-handers well all year and should be able to continue in a matchup against James Kaprielian, who holds an 8.12 ERA on the season, along with a 1.81 WHIP. The Pirates should have no problem keeping up their current hot streak against the Oakland Athletics, and neither should Jack Suwinski.
