Nick Pivetta Sleeper MLB Pick: More Than 17.5 Outs

If Brayan Bello can do it, why not Nick Pivetta? The Miami Marlins have been the cure all for most starting pitchers this season as they rank towards the bottom of the league in wOBA, ISO and batting average against right-handed pitching. Bello had really been struggling for Boston but went out and tossed 6.2 innings last night. 

Pivetta has also been struggling of late, but we’ve seen him be dominant at times as well this season. This is looking like a matchup where he gets back on track and gets us a quality start and the more than 17.5 outs we need.

 

 

 

Max Scherzer Sleeper MLB Pick: More Than 4.5 Strikeouts

Chasing the strikeouts here for Scherzer, who has had four strikeouts in each of his first two starts this season.  Why we like the 4.5 strikeouts here today is the fact that Scherzer was limited in each of those two outings, tossing 50 pitches in his first start and 77 pitches in his second.

Expectations here for his third start are that we see at least 90 pitches from Max here today, which means he pitches deeper into the game and therefore more opportunities to rack up the strikeouts.
