MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers

MLB DFS Top Pitchers

Shohei Ohtani (LAD)

Analysis: Ohtani has been lights out on the mound this season, with a 0.73 ERA across eight starts. He's striking out 28.4% of batters while walking just 6.8%, and he's also produced a 50.4% groundball rate. That devastating profile shows exactly why it's been so difficult to score on the right-hander this season. Tonight, he draws the Rockies away from Coors Field, which is one of the best possible matchups in all of baseball.

Jose Soriano (LAA)

Analysis: Soriano has leaped forward this season from the very good to the elite tier of starting pitchers. His strikeouts have jumped up to 27.9%, helping offset his lofty 10.2% walk rate, and he still induces a ton of ground balls at 51.9%. He draws a plus matchup against a Tigers team that owns a below-average 93 wRC+ against right-handed pitching and strikes out at the 10th-highest rate.

Jacob deGrom (TEX)

Analysis: deGrom had a rough start last time out against a strikeout-prone Angels team, and he wasn't much better the time before that against the Astros lineup he faces again today. Still, he has tremendous upside as he's missed bats at a 29.8% clip this season, which is the highest mark on the entire slate.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Casey Mize (DET)

Analysis: Mize has been excellent this season, posting a 2.47 ERA through eight starts. His strikeouts have climbed to an above-average 25.1%, and his walk rate remains elite at 6.4%. He was up to 95 pitches in his last outing, so he is fully back from a brief IL stint that cost him a couple of starts. The matchup against the Angels is ideal for upside, as they strike out at the highest rate in the league against right-handed pitching.

Connor Prielipp (MIN)

Analysis: Prielipp has been solid though his first six big league starts, posting a 4.03 ERA with an above-average 24.4% strikeout rate. The matchup against the White Sox is a dangerous one, as they own a 118 wRC+ against lefties this season, but their 25% strikeout rate (10th-highest) also bakes in plenty of upside for Prielipp.

Bubba Chandler (PIT)

Analysis: Chandler is coming off one of the best starts of his young career, with 11 strikeouts in five innings of one-run ball against the Blue Jays. He draws a struggling Cubs offense that has lost 10 games in a row and has posted just an 84 wRC+ this month.

Top Options For Strikeouts

The three top strikeout targets in today's MLB DFS projections each carry a K/9 above 9.9 and favorable opponent strikeout splits. K-prop lines and value ratings are incorporated below for DFS and prop context. These are the arms building the highest strikeout ceilings on the nine-game slate.

Our model identifies these arms as the highest-ceiling plays for Alt-K lines today:

Best Odds For A Win

The following MLB DFS picks offer a combination of favorable win odds, sustainable ERA and xFIP metrics, and soft opponent matchups. Each carry K-prop lines worth noting alongside their DFS value at reduced ownership relative to the top tier.

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters

MLB DFS Top Hitters

Aaron Judge (OF, NYY)

Analysis: Judge owns an absurd .314 ISO and .420 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. Cameron has had reverse splits in his career, but he still has a .166 xISO to righties this year as well. Overall, the lefty has allowed a 44% hard-hit rate and 10.7% barrel rate.

Ben Rice and Cody Bellinger (1B/OF, NYY)

Analysis: Do not leave these two lefties out of your Yankees stacks today. They have both been excellent against southpaws this season, with a .314 and .237 ISO, respectively. Cameron also has reverse splits in his career, and he's allowing a .265 ISO to lefty batters this year.

Max Muncy (3B, LAD)

Analysis: Sugano has been one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball this season, and lefties have absolutely teed off on him in his MLB career. He allowed a .228 ISO last season, and he's all the way up at .270 ISO allowed to them this season. Muncy owns an elite .252 ISO against righties and hits in the middle of one of the best lineups in baseball.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Dalton Rushing (C, LAD)

Analysis: Sugano has struggled against lefties since entering MLB and draws and that's before factoring in his incredible luck this season. Rushing should draw the start in this elite matchup, and he owns an elite .306 ISO against righties this season.

Chandler Simpson (OF, TBR)

Analysis: Simpson is a cheap leadoff option with a strong chance at five plate appearances on the road tonight. He comes with multiple-hit and stolen base upside.

Jose Caballero (SS, NYY)

Analysis: Caballero has been outstanding for the Yankees this season, especially against lefties. He has tagged southpaws for a .222 ISO this season.

MLB DFS Top Stacks

Primary Stack: New York Yankees vs Noah Cameron (KC LHP)

Why: Cameron owns a 4.72 ERA this season, and he's been battered for a 44% hard-hit rate and 10.7% barrel rate. Fly-ball variance (just 8.1% HR/FB) has kept his home run rate in check, but that good fortune could quite possibly come to an end against an elite Yankees lineup tonight. Cameron has had reverse splits in his career, allowing more power to lefties than righties.

Primary Stack: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Tomoyuki Sugano (COL RHP)

Why: Sugano has been one of the luckiest pitchers in all of baseball this season, so don't be scared off by his 3.86 ERA. He's allowed a massive 46.6% hard-hit rate and 16.3% barrel rate. The Dodgers should be able to capitalize on their elite power and tee off on Sugano. Lefties own a .329 xISO against him this season, with righties also up at an elite .226 xISO.

Primary Stack: Tampa Bay Rays vs Trey Gibson (BAL RHP)

Why: The Rays have quietly been one of the best offenses in baseball this season, and they own a 107 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. The rookie Gibson will be making just his second-career big league start, after allowing two homers to the Yankees in his first start. He owns a 12.2% walk rate across 31.2 Triple-A innings this season.

"Contrarian" Stack: Pittsburgh Pirates vs Jameson Taillon (CHC RHP)

Why: Taillon has allowed more home runs than any pitcher in baseball this season. His ERA is a lofty 5.20, and he's allowed 2.77 HR/9 and a 14.5% barrel rate. The Pirates also own a 110 wRC+ against right-handed pitching, which ranks 5th-best in all of baseball.

"Contrarian" Stack: Texas Rangers vs Mike Burrows (HOU RHP)

Why: Burrows is tied for the third-most home runs allowed this season, with lefties giving him all sorts of trouble (.272 ISO). Overall, hw owns a 5.75 ERA and has allowed 1.92 HR/9. The Rangers own an above-average 104 wRC+ against righties this season, and they are all very affordable.
