MLB DFS Top Pitchers

Jacob Misiorowski (MIL)

Analysis: On a loaded pitching slate that includes three of the top pitchers in the game, Misiorowski has the worst matchup by a wide margin. He draws the best offense in baseball who just touched him up for five runs in his last start. The Miz can certainly dominate in any matchup, but the tough spot puts him third among the elite trio of options. 

Cam Schlittler (NYY)

Analysis: Schlittler draws the best matchup of the top trio, with a date against the Rockies in Yankee Stadium. They strike out at a 23.6% clip on the road, and they own just a 97 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season. Schlittler has been in elite form, with five straight quality starts in which he has not allowed more than one run in any single outing. 

Tarik Skubal (LAD) 

Analysis: Skubal has been on a solid run himself, as he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any start as a Dodger. The Reds are a better offense against lefties than they are against righties, but they also strike out at the fifth-highest rate in the league. Skubal's upside is tremendous in this spot against the whiff-happy Reds.  

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Sean Burke (CWS)

Analysis: Burke bounced back from a couple of rough outings to dominate the Astros last time out, throwing 5.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts. Now, he gets an elite matchup against a Pirates offense that has really struggled in the second half. Since the All-Star break, the Bucs have managed just a 79 wRC+ while striking out at the fourth-highest rate in baseball. 

Landen Roupp (SF)

Analysis: Roupp has put together a solid season for the Giants, and his underlying numbers are even better than his 4.17 surface-level ERA. His 48.3% groundball rate is well above average, and he works at home in an elite pitcher's park. The Cardinals have been slightly below average against righties with a 95 wRC+. 

Quinn Mathews (ATL)

Analysis: Matthews has thrown at least 95 pitches in each of his five big league starts, and he's been excellent in four of them. Last time out, he held the Dodgers to just one run in five innings while adding four strikeouts. Tonight, he gets an elite matchup in San Francisco. Since the trade deadline, the Giants have managed just a 92 wRC+ while striking out at a healthy 23.3% clip.  

Freddy Peralta (TB)

Analysis: In an unsurprising development, it seems the Rays have been able to get Peralta back into top form. He has dominated the Mets and Tigers in his last two starts, allowing just one run across 12 innings while striking out 11. Tonight, he draws a neutral matchup with the Braves, who have been a slightly below-average offense in the second half with a 98 wRC+ and a 23% strikeout rate.

MLB DFS Top Hitters

George Springer (OF, TOR) & Kazuma Okamoto (3B, TOR)

Analysis: The Blue Jays own the highest implied team total on the slate in their matchup with Perkins at Sutter Health Park. Springer has put together an outstanding 131 wRC+ in the second half after struggling earlier this season. Okamoto has been solid all season long, posting a .197 ISO against righties this year. Perkins is a fly-ball pitcher who has allowed 1.65 HR/9, and the bullpen behind him owns the worst ERA in baseball. 

Tommy Edman (2B, LAD) & Teoscar Hernandez (OF, LAD)

Analysis: Edman and Hernandez have both been known as lefty mashers their entire careers. Edman is at .173 ISO and .358 wOBA against lefties this year, while Hernandez is up at .209 ISO and .379 wOBA. Lodolo has allowed a gaudy .230 ISO to right-handed batters this season. 

Gabriel Moreno (C, ARI)

Analysis: The D-backs get a great hitting environment with hot weather in Kansas City tonight. Wacha has been really solid this season, but he has struggled with righty power (.264 ISO). Moreno owns a solid .168 ISO and an excellent .379 wOBA against righties this season. 

Jackson Chourio (OF, MIL)

Analysis: Chourio has put together the best season of his young career, and he owns a .211 ISO against lefties this year. Peterson struggled against the Brewers last time out, and now must face them in consecutive starts. Chourio homered and doubled off Peterson on his way to a four-hit performance last game. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Brett Bateman (OF, TOR) & Nathan Lukes (OF, TOR)

Analysis: Bateman has provided a much-needed spark at the top of the Jays lineup since coming over at the trade deadline. He's posted a .370 wOBA against righties across his first 75 plate appearances. Lukes should hit in the middle part of the order and gets the same elite matchup against Perkins and the bad A's bullpen. 

Geraldo Perdomo (SS, ARI) & Nolan Arenado (3B, ARI)

Analysis: Arenado is hitting from the preferred platoon split against Wacha, and he owns a healthy .186 ISO against righties. The D-backs have great context all around tonight, which puts Perdomo in play as well. The great hitting weather and a bad KC bullpen further add to the appeal.  

Andrew Vaughn (1B, MIL), Luis Lara (OF, MIL), & Cooper Pratt (SS, MIL) 

Analysis: Vaughn owns an elite .417 wOBA against lefties this season. Meanwhile, Lara and Pratt both profile to hit lefties well, even if it hasn't shown up in a limited sample at the big leagues just yet. Peterson must face the Brewers for a second consecutive start after getting knocked around by them last week, and the Cubs bullpen has also been having plenty of issues recently. 

Spencer Jones (OF, NYY)

Analysis: Jones has mostly been as advertised for the Yankees, flashing big-time power and plenty of strikeouts. The good news is he faces a pitcher that has managed just a 14.8% strikeout rate against lefties this season.
