MLB Weather Today, 7/26
Diamondbacks vs Nationals – Mostly cloudy, 84°F, 4% precip, 3 mph wind at Nationals Park. A clean, low-impact weather day for this one, nothing pushing the ball either direction.
Athletics vs Twins – Clear, 98°F, 10 mph wind at Target Field. This is the standout hitting environment with hot air and a moderate wind that should help the ball carry.
Rockies vs Brewers – Mostly cloudy, 86°F, 0% precip, 6 mph wind. American Family Field has a retractable roof, so this reading may not reflect in-game conditions if it's closed.
Astros vs White Sox – Mostly cloudy, 86°F, 0% precip, 5 mph wind at Rate Field.
Cubs vs Pirates – Mostly cloudy, 81°F, 4% precip, 5 mph wind at PNC Park.
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
MLB DFS Top Pitchers
Jacob Misiorowski (MIL)
The best pitcher on the slate, full stop. A 1.57 ERA across 19 starts is already special, but it's backed by a 2.05 FIP and 2.09 xFIP, meaning this isn't a mirage built on sequencing luck. His 13.54 K/9 is comfortably the highest of any starter in this playbook, and a 0.82 WHIP with a .152 average allowed shows hitters simply aren't finding barrels against him. He walks a bit more than you'd like at 2.19 BB/9, but with strikeout stuff this dominant that's a minor complaint. Milwaukee is a monster -350 favorite at home against Colorado, and every number here says that price is earned rather than inflated.
Jacob deGrom (TEX)
A pitchers' duel headliner: deGrom draws Logan Gilbert and Seattle in a near pick'em game (-109/-110) at Globe Life Field. His 3.76 ERA sits a shade behind his peripherals (3.33 FIP, 3.10 xFIP), suggesting the results have actually been a touch unlucky rather than fortunate, a good sign for continued production. A 10.94 K/9 and 2.05 BB/9 give him one of the cleaner strikeout-to-walk profiles in this group, and a 1.05 WHIP backs that up. The .219 average allowed rounds out a genuinely excellent season, this is a true 1a beside Misiorowski rather than a clear step down.
Logan Gilbert (SEA)
The other half of today's marquee pitching matchup, and his numbers stack up just as well as deGrom's. A 3.375 ERA is mirrored almost exactly by his 3.33 FIP, so there's no hidden regression risk lurking underneath, this is simply what he is right now. His 9.68 K/9 and tidy 1.875 BB/9 give him excellent strikeout equity without the walk risk that erodes floor, and a sub-1.00 WHIP (0.983) is elite. Facing off directly against deGrom in a game the books view as a true coin flip makes this a fascinating pitcher-only lineup construction spot as much as a cash play.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Emmet Sheehan (LAD)
The clearest positive-regression case among today's value arms. His 5.13 ERA looks rough on the surface, but a 4.50 FIP and especially a 3.93 xFIP tell a much friendlier story, both meaningfully better than his actual results. A 10.16 K/9 is the best strikeout rate of any value pitcher today, and it's paired with the Dodgers as decent-sized favorites (-150) over the Mets. The concerns are real too: a 2.77 BB/9 and 1.266 WHIP show he's not airtight, and an 18-start ERA that far off his peripherals over 87.2 innings is a meaningful sample, not a one-start blip. Priced like a mid-tier arm with a legitimate top-tier strikeout ceiling underneath.
Framber Valdez (DET)
Worth tempering expectations here: a 4.57 ERA is roughly matched by a 4.16 FIP and 4.29 xFIP, so unlike Sheehan, there's no hidden gem underneath the surface number, this is a fair read of where he's at. His 7.31 K/9 is the lowest of any pitcher in today's playbook, and a 3.16 BB/9 with a 1.375 WHIP rounds out a middling profile. The appeal is almost entirely the moneyline: Detroit is a big -190 favorite at home over Kansas City, and a bad Royals lineup can still generate the win-and-innings floor DFS pricing wants even without bat-missing upside.
Connor Prielipp (MIN)
A rookie-year small sample (66.2 innings, 13 starts) that still shows real swing-and-miss stuff: a 9.585 K/9 is well above replacement level. His 4.995 ERA is notably worse than his 3.89 FIP, another arm this playbook likes better on peripherals than results, though a 3.375 BB/9 and 1.365 WHIP show some genuine command issues that aren't just bad luck. Minnesota is favored at home (-158) over Oakland, giving him a reasonable floor even before factoring in the swing-and-miss upside. Treat this as a smaller-sample bet on a live arm rather than a proven commodity.

- Connor Prielipp: 9.585 K/9
- Logan Gilbert: 9.68 K/9
- Framber Valdez: 7.31 K/9 (lowest of the group, win-and-innings profile rather than a strikeout play)

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters
MLB DFS Top Hitters
Ketel Marte (2B, ARI)
Worth the honest framing up front: Marte's overall 91.0 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this year is actually a shade below league average, a real contrast to how dominant he's been against lefties (143.9 wRC+). He faces a righty today in Miles Mikolas, so today's matchup doesn't play to his best split. The case for him anyway is Mikolas himself: a 5.60 ERA backed by an even worse 5.46 FIP, plus 21 home runs allowed in just 98 innings (1.93 HR/9). Marte still has enough raw power (.163 ISO vs. RHP) to punish a mistake, this is more about the pitcher's vulnerability than Marte's own platoon strength today.
Jackson Chourio (OF, MIL)
A clean, textbook great matchup: Chourio's 142.1 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this year is outstanding, and he draws a lefty in Kyle Freeland who has been one of the worst starters in baseball this season. His .195 ISO vs. LHP shows real power to go with the average, and a strong 10.5% walk rate against lefties keeps his floor stable even on a quiet night. Batting leadoff for Milwaukee gives him the most plate appearances of anyone in this lineup. This is about as favorable a batter-pitcher matchup as exists on the entire slate.
Byron Buxton (OF, MIN)
Worth knowing his platoon split before pricing in the matchup: Buxton's 153.9 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this year is elite, but his number against lefties (105.5 wRC+) is much more middle-of-the-road, and he faces a lefty today in Jeffrey Springs. That said, a 105.5 wRC+ is still solidly above average, and Springs has been one of the most homer-prone pitchers in this entire playbook (2.37 HR/9, 27 allowed on the year). Buxton's raw power against lefties (.174 ISO) is more modest than his RHP number but still real. The pitcher matchup does a lot of the heavy lifting here more than Buxton's own platoon split does.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Austin Martin (OF, MIN)
The best pure numbers of this value tier: a 127.0 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, and he gets a lefty today in Jeffrey Springs, one of the most exploitable arms on the slate. An outstanding 18.5% walk rate against lefties is the carrying tool here rather than power, pairing with a .360 slugging percentage for a genuinely patient, professional at-bat profile. His strikeout rate against lefties (16.2%) is also perfectly manageable. At $2,800, this is a strong price-to-production gap for the top of Minnesota's order.
Andrew Vaughn (1B, MIL)
The single best individual number anywhere in today's playbook: a 203.8 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, and he lines up against a lefty in Kyle Freeland who's been one of the worst pitchers in the sport this year (7.28 ERA, .317 average allowed). The sample is smaller than you'd like (75 plate appearances vs. LHP), so some regression toward his more modest right-handed-pitching number (100.1 wRC+) is possible, but the underlying quality of contact (.254 ISO, .480 slugging vs. LHP) supports real thunder in this specific matchup. At $3,200, this is one of the sharpest price-to-matchup gaps on the board.
Tommy White (1B/3B, ATH)
The riskiest inclusion here and worth saying so plainly: White's data against left-handed pitching is an extremely small sample, just 11 plate appearances, producing a 91.6 wRC+ that shouldn't be trusted as a real read on his talent level yet. He faces a lefty today in Connor Prielipp. There isn't enough of a track record here to make a confident projection either way, so this is a speculative, cheap-salary dart throw at $2,400 rather than a data-backed matchup play, treat him as a punt option to fund the studs above him on this list.
MLB DFS Top Stacks
Top Stack: Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miles Mikolas (WSH RHP)
Why: Arizona's team-wide line against right-handed pitching (86.5 wRC+) is actually the softest of any team featured today, so this isn't a top-to-bottom smash spot on team quality alone. The real case is Mikolas specifically: a 5.60 ERA backed by an even worse 5.46 FIP, 1.93 HR/9, and 21 home runs allowed in 98 innings, one of the most hittable arms on the entire slate. Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno give this stack lineup-wide correlation beyond Marte, and it's a near pick'em game (-115/-105) at a reasonable 5.2 implied team total.
Targets: Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, Gabriel Moreno
Top Stack: Minnesota Twins vs Jeffrey Springs (ATH LHP)
Why: Springs has been genuinely rough this year: a 5.96 ERA, 6.02 FIP, and a slate-worst-adjacent 2.37 HR/9 with 27 home runs allowed. Minnesota's team aggregate against lefties (90.1 wRC+) isn't elite, but the individual bats in this specific matchup, Buxton and Martin, both grade out well above that team number against left-handed pitching specifically. The Twins are also solid home favorites (-158), and Target Field's forecast (98°F, 10 mph wind) is shaping up as a genuine hitting environment per today's forecaster notes.
Targets: Byron Buxton, Austin Martin, Royce Lewis
Top Stack: Milwaukee Brewers vs Kyle Freeland (COL LHP)
Why: Freeland has been one of the worst starters in baseball this season: a 7.28 ERA, .317 average allowed, and a 1.564 WHIP that ranks at the bottom of any pitcher referenced in this playbook. Milwaukee's team split against lefties (90.9 wRC+) undersells this matchup, since both Chourio (142.1 wRC+) and Vaughn (203.8 wRC+) individually crush left-handed pitching well beyond that team average. Add in Milwaukee's massive -350 favorite status at home, and this is a stack built on both a terrible opposing arm and a heavy Vegas lean.
Targets: Jackson Chourio, Andrew Vaughn, William Contreras, Jake Bauers
“Contrarian” Stacks
Contrarian Stack: Houston Astros vs Erick Fedde (CWS RHP)
Why: Fedde's 4.16 ERA actually looks better than his peripherals, a 5.15 FIP and 4.81 xFIP both suggest real regression risk ahead, the sort of gap that often means results catch down to the underlying stuff rather than the reverse. Houston's team line against right-handed pitching (105.3 wRC+) is comfortably above average, in a near pick'em game (-105/-114) that shouldn't be treated as automatically low-scoring just because the total looks modest.
Targets: Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Pena, Jose Altuve
Contrarian Stack: Miami Marlins vs Walker Buehler (SD RHP)
Why: Buehler's season-long profile is consistently mediocre rather than a hidden gem or a hidden trap: a 5.23 ERA with a similar 4.37 FIP and 4.33 xFIP, so what you see is what you get. Miami's team line against right-handed pitching (102.5 wRC+) is right around league average, a touch better than most casual DFS players probably assume from a Marlins lineup. The rain in today's forecast shouldn't be a real factor here since loanDepot Park has a roof, removing one common objection to rostering this game.
Targets: Otto Lopez, Xavier Edwards, Liam Hicks
Contrarian Stack: Pittsburgh Pirates vs Jameson Taillon (CHC RHP)
Why: Taillon has allowed a brutal 2.75 HR/9 this year, 22 home runs in only 72 innings, the single highest home run rate of any pitcher referenced in today's playbook, and his 6.40 FIP is far worse than his already-poor 5.38 ERA. Pittsburgh's team line against right-handed pitching (114.4 wRC+) is comfortably the best of any team in this entire article, yet Pittsburgh is still the home favorite (-130) rather than a popular chalk play, likely because Cubs-Pirates doesn't carry the same public attention as the day's marquee games. The individual bats back up the team number too: Bryan Reynolds (127.3 wRC+ vs. RHP), Ryan O'Hearn (135.7 wRC+), and Brandon Lowe (130.3 wRC+) are all comfortably above-average against right-handed pitching this year, giving this stack real depth beyond the team split alone.
Targets: Bryan Reynolds, Ryan O'Hearn, Brandon Lowe
