Isaac Paredes MLB ParlayPlay Fantasy Pick: More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Multiple Houston Astros hitters are worth backing in today’s matchup against Athletics starter Jacob Lopez. Let’s target one of those bats in Isaac Paredes, who can do some damage with splits and trends in his favor. 

Paredes is hitting very well lately. The Astros’ third baseman has a .366 batting average and .947 OPS over his last 11 games. He’s also hitting .280 with an .824 OPS over his past 27 games. Paredes brings in a .290 average against left-handed pitching this season. 

Meanwhile, Lopez has struggled to a 5.22 ERA and 1.53 WHIP this year. The Athletics’ southpaw has been pitching better over the last month, but taking on Houston on the road presents a tough matchup. As for this head-to-head matchup, Lopez is allowing a .280 batting average and .849 OPS to right-handed hitters. 

Patrick Sandoval MLB ParlayPlay Fantasy Pick: More Than 5.5 Strikeouts

Patrick Sandoval has experienced some ups and downs since joining the Boston Red Sox rotation in July. He’s posted a 4.76 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 7 starts. Still, the left-hander has plenty of strikeout upside in Saturday’s home matchup against the San Francisco Giants. 

The Giants have struggled mightily against left-handed pitching lately. They have a 27.1% strikeout rate vs. lefties in August, which is the 4th-highest mark in the league. San Fran is also hitting just .186 with a 5.9% walk rate in the split this month, ranking 29th and 28th in the majors, respectively. 

It sets up well for Sandoval to be on the higher end of his strikeout range. He’s averaging only 5 punchouts per start so far, while carrying a below-average 21.9% strikeout rate. Even so, the Giants’ swing-and-miss tendencies can allow him to exceed those numbers. Plus, their league-low 6.5% walk rate vs. left-handers this season will help Sandoval avoid his own walk issues.
