MLB Week 17 Injury Report Update: Pitchers

Blake Snell, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder

Snell struck out seven batters over three innings on Tuesday.

Spencer Arrighetti, Houston Astros - Thumb

It seems like we should get news in the next couple of days about a rehab assignment for Arrighetti. Arrighetti has been on the IL since early April with a broken thumb on his pitching hand.

Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies - Ankle/Rib

Next up on Nola’s recovery from ankle and rib issues is a 40-pitch live BP session on Saturday.

Roki Sasaki, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder

Sasaki is currently on the injured list with a shoulder impingement, and the team is hopeful that he can return by the end of August.

MLB Week 17 Injury Report Update: Hitters

Eugenio Suarez, Arizona Diamondbacks - Finger

Every contender in Major League Baseball needing a third baseman by the MLB Trade Deadline held their collective breath after Suarez took a fastball to his hand. X-rays came back negative, which is certainly positive.

Connor Norby, Miami Marlins - Hand

Norby will miss the next 6-to-8 weeks with a broken hamate bone in his left hand.

Sal Frelick, Milwaukee Brewers - Hamstring

Frelick is dealing with a hamstring strain, and an IL stint has not yet been ruled out.

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros - Hand

In a recent update by Chandler Rome in The Athletic, Rome points out the fact that Alvarez may not play again this year at full strength. We haven’t heard much in regards to his re-evaluation on July 17th, but the hope is that he can begin swinging a bat soon.

Jeremy Pena, Houston Astros - Rib

Things seem to be progressing well for Pena if you read posts on X about him, but I’d be very surprised if we see him this weekend.

Ryan Mountcastle, Baltimore Orioles - Hamstring

The expectation is that Mountcastle heads out on a rehab assignment in the early part of next week.
