Everyone tends to overlook the defenses in fantasy football. You don’t really pay much attention to them until they do something really good or kick you in the ass. In DFS, many just punt the position so they can find a way to get Le’Veon Bell and DeMarco Murray in the lineup. A good defense, believe it or not is important, because it can make the difference. The last thing you want is negative points, because all that leads to is a loss, a cracked phone or laptop screen and a week full of disgust.
Here are the top 5 defenses for Week 6 of the NFL season, minus, of course, the Broncos who played already on Thursday night.
Arizona DST vs. NYJ
Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be! Ryan Fitzpatrick has multiple interception game in two of his last three outings! He was tentative against Pittsburgh and just couldn’t get it going. Arizona blitzes often and that will likely force Fitz-out-of-magic to make some bad decisions.
Buffalo DST vs. SF
Colin Kaepernick is getting the start under center and it’s hard to say what to expect from a guy who couldn’t beat out Blaine Gabbert. He’s going to be rusty and while he likely can still move around, this Buffalo defense will prove to be too much for Kaepernick. Buffalo will force at least two turnovers in this one.
New England DST vs. CIN
If New England can successfully contain A.J. Green, they will likely have no problem being a top defense this week. The Patriots have put up double-digit fantasy weeks in two of the last three weeks and they get to face a beaten Cincinnati offensive line. Dalton might be running for his life this week.
Seattle DST vs. ATL
The Seattle defense is averaging just under nine fantasy points per game so far this season and while they have yet to score this season, this is a great opportunity for them. Tyler Lockett will look to make an impact in the return game and Matt Ryan isn’t immune to a turnover or two. Throw in the fact this team is averaging three sacks per game and you got yourself a top 5 defense.
Los Angeles DST @ DET
This might come as a surprise, seeing as Stafford is coming off a three-touchdown performance and the Rams will be without one of its better corners. However, Stafford only threw for 180 yards last week, and just 213 the week before. Detroit’s running game is next to nothing and the Rams have posted at least two sacks in each of the last four games. They’ll come up big this week.
