Defense wins championships. In DFS or season long leagues, a defensive unit won’t be the sole reason you win a title, but it could give you an edge on a weekly basis. A lot of people punt this position and hope for the best. Negative points from a DST in DFS can often times be a kiss of death. However, the five defenses listed below have plenty of upside this week and should be in all of your DFS lineups.

Arizona DST vs. TB

Facing Jameis Winston isn’t going to be an easy task, but this Arizona defense is up to the task. They should force a turnover or two, rack up some sacks and the return specialist could find his way into the end zone.

Seattle DST @ LAR

Outside of Todd Gurley, this offense is a dumpster fire. Did you see Case Keenum in Week 1? He will likely start this matchup and Seattle is going to eat him alive. This unit is too good and Keenum is too bad, so Seattle is a logical choice in Week 2.

Carolina DST vs. SF

Carolina may be inexperienced at the corner back position but when you’re facing Blaine Gabbert, does it really even matter? This defensive unit will rack up a few sacks and force at least a couple of turnovers in an easy win.

Baltimore DST @ CLE

With Josh McCown under center, this Baltimore unit is going to be useful like they were in their golden days. Cleveland sports a limited offense that should allow Baltimore to keep them in check all day. Even at an advanced age, Devin Hester could take one to the house in the return game. Hey, they are facing the Browns, anything is possible!

Denver DST vs. IND

Facing Andrew Luck isn’t going to be an easy task, but this defensive unit is stacked, so regardless of who they are facing, they are going to be a top-five defensive unit. The Indianapolis offensive line is suspect, so Luck might be running for his life in this one.
