Stacks for Saturday, September 16
Cubs
The wind is blowing out at Wrigley today as the Cubs look to extend the current longest winning streak in the MLB. The face Michael Wacha today, and have one of the larger projected run totals of the early game. Wacha has been pitching well lately, but the Cubs offense will be a step up in competition for him. Wacha is 1-3, with a 6.17 ERA over six starts at Wrigley for his career. The Cubs have scored 47 runs over their four game win streak, and with the hitting conditions today, they could very much have another double digit scoring game. Bryant, Schwarber, Contreras, Rizzo, and Happ each have hit at least two home runs off Wacha, with Bryant and Rizzo a combined, 25-61, with five home runs off of him. Stacking the Cubs will cost you, but the afternoon looks to be either a Cubs/Yankees stack with a punt pitcher, or paying up for Carrasco. I think hitting outscores pitching today.
Top Options: Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber, Ian Happ or Willson Contreras.
Bonus Stack: Rays
It won’t work on FanDuel, but I like the risk with a Rays stack today. They face Porcello this late afternoon after taking a tough extra innings loss last night in a game they should have won vs Sale. Porcello has struggled vs the Rays this year, going 1-4, with a 4.91 ERA in five starts vs them. He was 5-0 vs them in his great season last year. The Rays will provide you some cheap bats on DK, in order to stack the Cubs, ad not fully punt both pitching spots.
Rockies
I don’t think you should try to outsmart the competition tonight by fading the Rockies tonight. Their projected run total tonight is close to two full runs more than the field. Jordan Lyles will be making his third start for the Padres after being sent down in late July. He’s allowed six runs over 9.1 innings in those starts. The Rockies are still battling for their wild card spot, and won’t take this game lightly. Similar to the Cubs this afternoon, the Rockies check in with high price tags. Lucroy may be their only starter under $4K on DK, with Parra joining Lucroy as the only two under $4K on FD. Fading the top Rockies may be your best bet tonight in terms of going different.
If looking for a team to pair with them, or go a different route, the Padres, Angels vs Hamels, or possible cheap Brewers bats vs Conley would be my other top options.
Top Options: Carlos Gonzalez, Gerardo Parra, Trevor Story, Mark Reynolds
