Top Stacks
Baltimore Orioles vs Héctor Santiago
So the Orioles are one of the worst teams in baseball this season and they just faced a slew of left-handed pitching against the Red Sox over the weekend and didn’t do much against it BUT how much longer can the top of that lineup, aside from Manny Machado , not produce? I am going with Adam Jones , Manny Machado , Jonathan Schoop , Mark Trumbo and Danny Valencia . Valencia has the best BvP vs Santiago at 7-for-20 (.350) with two doubles while Jones and Machado also have home runs off him.
New York Yankees vs Bartolo Colón
This one has the potential to get ugly as Colon is throwing 70-percent “sinkers” but could just as easily be considered fastballs this year with an average velocity of 87-89 MPH. If Colon can’t get the ball down then the power hitters in the Yankees lineup could have a field day. Colon is actually enjoying a solid season, going 2-1 with a 2.82 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP but the Yankees lineup has some impressive BvP numbers with Brett Gardner , Aaron Judge , Gary Sánchez , Giancarlo Stanton and Neil Walker combining to hit .339 (20/59) with six home runs and 16 RBI. It is also going to be a warm, humid night in Texas which means the baseballs will travel better in the air tonight.
Contrarian Stack
Miami Marlins vs Jason Vargas
It’s not often we are looking to play Marlin players outside of J.T. Realmuto and the occasional Justin Bour one-off for his home run upside but tonight could be the night that a Marlins stack is in play as the Mets send lefty Jason Vargas to the mound. Vargas has been horrible through three starts this season, allowing 19 runs on 26 hits over 12.1 innings. He has allowed five home runs over those three 12.1 innings and both lefties and righties are hammering him. Realmuto is a must tonight at catcher and adding to that stack should be Starlin Castro , Cameron Maybin who is hitting .286 with an OPS of .753 vs lefties this season and Brian Anderson who is hitting .3333 with an OPS of .956 vs southpaws on the year. Justin Bour , Miguel Rojas , Martín Prado and Lewis Brinson will be the lower owned of the stack but all are in play as well.
