Chicago Cubs vs Erick Fedde

Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras, Javier Baez, Kyle Schwarber, Alex Avila

Fedde will be making his second major league start of his career and while the Nationals are hoping it will be better than his debut outing which saw him allow seven earned runs on 10 hits over four innings that seems unlikely against the Cubs on Sunday.  Fedde is an interesting case to be starting in general this season as he owned a 5.57 ERA over 10 games at Triple-A prior to being called up.  Given that, the Cubs will likely be the most popular stack this afternoon.

Cincinnati Reds vs Adam Wainwright

Joey Votto, Adam Duvall, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, Billy Hamilton, Scooter Gennett

Wainwright will be making his first start off the disabled list and will find himself on the mound in one of the leagues more favorable hitting environments.  This season has been very up and down for Waino as he has gone through stretches where it looked like his career was done only to have a run of 3-to-4 good games in a row.  Given his time on the disabled list and matchup on Sunday I think this is a good time to bank on one of those down stretches to start.  Wainwright has already had one start in Cincinnati this season and he allowed nine earned runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Clayton Richard

Andrew McCutchen, Josh Harrison, David Freese, Starling Marte, Francisco Cervelli, Josh Bell

Padres starter Clayton Richard is 1-5 with a 5.21 ERA on the road this season and right-handed batters are hitting .328 with an OPS of .934 against him.  So, enter the Pittsburgh Pirates and their slew of right-handed bats, particularly the likes of Andrew McCutchen, David Freese and Josh Harrison all of whom have very strong splits against southpaws this season.

Boston Red Sox vs Mike Pelfrey

Mookie Betts, Eduardo Nunez, Rafael Devers, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., Mitch Moreland

Pelfrey has really struggled over his last two starts and will now pitch in the hitter friendly haven of Fenway Park against a Red Sox team that has won five straight games.  Pelfrey has had success against the Red Sox in the past which includes tossing 5.2 innings of shutout baseball earlier this season but the additions of Eduardo Nunez and top prospect Rafael Devers to the lineup have really sparked this Red Sox offense.
