Back to a full slate of games tonight, but the match-ups are again, not looking as pretty as I would like. Yesterday we got by with a few, but again, the usual bottom-feeders like the Braves and the Twins are absolutely raking right now and some of the usual names we like to use just don’t have great match-ups here. We’ll give it the old college try though.

Chris Sale, CHW – His numbers against the Royals haven’t exactly been great, but the Royals have been awful at the plate in recent weeks. We’re talking a dismal .277 wOBA with a 25.2-percent strikeout rate and just a .118 ISO. Hard to go against a guy like Sale, even with diminishing strikeout numbers, against a team this cold.

Zack Greinke, ARI – He’s just off the DL and maybe that’s not the best time to use him, but this match-up with the Mets is pretty solid. The Mets rank 23rd in the league with a .305 wOBA and 22.5-percent strikeout rate against righties this season and their recent numbers over the past week are just about identical to that.

Rick Porcello, BOS – I hate using Porcello. Just hate it. But with Luis Severino on the mound, the Sox should take a strong, early lead which could hopefully bring him the win. The Yankees continue to struggle with a .303 wOBA against righties and their strikeout rate has popped up to almost 22-peercent over this past week. Not to mention he’s allowed just three runs over 14 innings against these Yankees with 11 strikeouts to his credit.

Kenta Maeda, LAD – He’s been having trouble going deep into games recently but he continues to limit the runs against him. The Phillies still have just a .297 wOBA against righties this season and their usual 21.4-percent strikeout rate against them has been up close to 23-percent over the past week.

Vince Velasquez, PHI – He’s going to battle Maeda for the W here, but Velasquez has five quality starts in his last six outings and has 21 strikeouts over his last 24 innings. The Dodgers are sitting right around league average with a .319 wOBA over the past week and have a 22.1-percent strikeout rate over that span.

Hector Santiago, MIN – The price is definitely right and the match-up actually looks pretty darn good here. The Astros rank just 23rd with a .310 wOBA against southpaws this season and have a 23.4-percent strikeout rate against them. Even better is that they have posted just a .239 wOBA over the past seven days and have a 25-percent strikeout rate as well.

Wade Miley, BAL – I hate this dart. Absolutely hate it. But considering the A’s have just a .311 wOBA against lefties this season and a .292 wOBA over the past week, why the heck not? Their numbers at home are pretty weak as well --.288 wOBA with just a .140 ISO.

Brandon Finnegan, CIN – With the way Mike Leake pitches against the Reds, the hope for a win here for Finnegan seems a little more plausible. Not to mention the Cardinals struggle against lefties with a .307 wOBA and 20.5-percent strikeout rate.
