A 2-run homer by Vladimir Guerrero set the tone in the 3rd inning, and Shane Bieber out-pitched Shohei Ohtani in the win. 

We now have one more game in Los Angeles before the series shifts back to Toronto for Game 6. On Wednesday, the starting pitching matchup will feature Trey Yesavage for the Blue Jays and Blake Snell for the Dodgers. Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Predictions: World Series Game 5, Wednesday, October 29th

The Dodgers own the starting pitching edge with Blake Snell on the mound. The left-hander was admittedly shaky in Game 1, allowing 5 runs and 8 hits. However, he was mostly dealing before running into trouble in the 6th inning. Bank on a bounce-back effort at home tonight. 

Before that last outing, Snell was previously dominant in the postseason. He had a 0.86 ERA with a 28:5 K:BB ratio in his three prior starts. The LA southpaw tossed 8 shutout innings in the NLCS against the Brewers, and 6 scoreless innings against the Phillies in the NLDS. 

Notably, Snell also gets to pitch at home tonight. During the regular season, he posted an elite 1.17 ERA with a minimal .188 wOBA allowed across 7 home starts. He’s only pitched in Los Angeles once in the playoffs, in which Snell threw 7 strong innings with 9 strikeouts against the Reds in the Wild Card round. 

It’s also worth noting Snell’s previous dominance that extended back into the regular season. Before facing Toronto in Game 1, he boasted a 1.71 ERA over his last 11 starts since returning from injury in August. We should see that version of Snell tonight, despite Toronto’s offense plating 6 runs on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, the Dodgers' hitters should provide run support in their own matchup. Rookie Trey Yesavage was decent in his Game 1 outing, allowing 2 runs over 4 innings. Yet, the damage could’ve been much worse. The righty issued 3 walks and 4 hits while escaping jams in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. 

Since his electric start against the Yankees in the ALDS, Yesavage has a 5.93 ERA and 4.89 FIP over his last 3 postseason outings. He’s been playing with fire in each start as well. In this stretch, Yesavage has allowed 14 hits and 9 walks across 13.2 innings.  

Plus, this will also be Yesavage’s first road start in the playoffs. The last time he pitched on the road was at Kansas City over a month ago in the regular season. In that start, he coughed up 4 runs with 8 baserunners allowed. The Dodgers can get to him early in this game and set the tone.
