MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 9/26

Reds vs. Blue Jays Prediction: Saturday, September 26th

If it seems like the Reds are a punching bag in these MLB best bets lately, you aren't wrong. The pitching they've sent out in the month of September has been nothing short of an abomination. Today, Rhett Lowder will be the latest example in that trend with his 7.44 ERA on the road this season taking on the Blue Jays. 

Lowder has had a season to forget, and the end of the campaign has been painful to watch for him. Over his last 15.1 innings pitched, he's given up 21 earned runs, 24 hits, and 11 walks. Opposing batters are hitting .348 against him in the month of September as well. When it comes to average, he's bad against both sides of the plate, but he does surrender more power to the left-handed hitters, with 12 of his 18 home runs given up this season coming at the hands of the lefties. That's where Nathan Lukes comes into play, who is a staple in the middle of this Toronto lineup as a lefty. This season he has hit .294 against right-handed pitching, and over the past week his numbers have swelled to a .400 average and .908 OPS. Given all the numbers in his favor today let's go ahead and take him to go over 1.5 hits/runs/RBIs this afternoon. 

In addition to the prop, I really like the spot for the Blue Jays as a whole at home against Lowder. They'll have Trey Yesavage pitching on their end, and while he hasn't been perfect, he will be better than the opposition. The Reds have just a .268 BABIP as a team over the past two weeks; it's hard to see them keeping pace, so Blue Jays on the Money Line, please!
