Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers Predictions: Monday, August 11th
Let’s start out with an interleague matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers. The starting pitchers tonight should anchor a low-scoring contest. Check out why we’re backing the under for the full game and first five innings.Â
Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi is having a dominant season, with a 1.38 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through 19 starts. The veteran has been outstanding lately, posting a 0.47 ERA over his past 6 starts. He’s also allowed less than 2 earned runs in 13 of his last 14 starts with a 0.90 ERA in this stretch.Â
This is arguably the best season of Eovaldi’s career. His 26.4% strikeout rate, 2.37 FIP, and .184 batting average allowed are career-best marks. Even against a dangerous Arizona offense today, we can trust Eovaldi to pump out another good start. At home this year, he owns a 1.54 ERA, 2.18 FIP, and .216 wOBA allowed across nine starts.Â
As Eovaldi does his thing, let’s back Diamondbacks starter Ryne Nelson to follow suit. The righty is having a solid season with a 3.20 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. He’s pitching well recently, with a 2.08 ERA over his past 10 starts and a 1.57 ERA over his past 4 starts.Â
Nelson has also been productive on the road lately. He’s posted a 2.42 ERA over his past 5 road starts. Today, he’ll take on a Texas offense that’s struggled against right-handed pitching over the past week with a .189 BA (28th in MLB), .279 wOBA (26th), and 26.5% K rate (25th). The Rangers are also a bottom-five lineup vs. righties since the All-Star break.Â
Let’s back Eovaldi and Nelson to keep scoring at a minimum here. The D-backs are 12-4-3 to the under over their last 19 games. Meanwhile, the Rangers are averaging just 1.8 runs per game over the last 5 contests.Â

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Athletics Predictions: Monday, August 11th
The Tampa Bay Rays and Athletics are teams headed in opposite directions lately. The Rays may still be barely alive in the AL Wild Card race, but their 4-13 record over the past 17 games says otherwise. Meanwhile, the A’s are quietly 11-5 in their last 16 games.Â
Although the Athletics won’t be playoff-bound this year, this squad is competitive right now. They return home after a week-long road trip, which should help the winning ways continue. On the flip side, the Rays are 3-10 on the road since the All-Star break and are in the middle of a current 12-game road trip.Â
The situational spot and recent trends point to the home A’s winning. Let’s go in that direction with the pitching matchup and offensive splits backing up the pick.Â
Athletics starter Jeffrey Springs has been up and down this season, but he’s on an extended good run lately. The left-hander owns a 2.93 ERA over his past 10 road starts, with 2 or fewer earned runs allowed in 8 of those 10 games. He’s also pitching well at home recently, with a 2.89 ERA over his past 7 home outings.Â
Springs now gets to face a slumping Tampa offense that’s averaging just 3.0 runs per game over the past 16 contests. The Rays have especially struggled against left-handed pitching, with a .254 wOBA, .192 BA, and 30.4% K rate in the split over the past two weeks. It’s a great spot for Springs to put up another good start.Â
On the other side, we get Ryan Pepiot starting for Tampa Bay. The righty has a 3.77 ERA this season with a 4.58 FIP that is notably worse. He’s been shaky lately, posting a 5.53 ERA over his past 5 starts and a 5.44 ERA over his past 8 outings.Â
It’s also worth noting how much Pepiot has had to pitch on the road recently. Entering today, 5 of his last 6 starts have been on the road – and now he has to do it again. That’s a tough ask for a guy who’s had some struggles over the past month.Â
Pepiot will take on an Athletics offense that’s hitting righties well right now. Over the past two weeks vs. right-handers, the A’s have a .277 BA (5th in MLB), .346 wOBA (6th), 119 wRC+ (7th), and 19.6% K rate (7th) in the split. This is also a top-10 offense at home this year.Â
