Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago White Sox Predictions: Tuesday, July 29th
The Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox continue their interleague series with an interesting Tuesday night matchup. The ChiSox pulled off the upset last night with a 6-2 victory. Instead of picking a side here, let’s bank on a high-scoring game with a pair of shaky starting pitchers on the mound.Â
Phillies starter Jesus Luzardo has been untrustworthy for two months now. He owns an 8.04 ERA over his last 10 starts, with 4+ runs allowed in 6 of those outings. The lefty also has a 7.23 ERA over his past 4 starts coming into this one. Luzardo is getting knocked around more often than not and now has to face sneaky-tough offense on the road.Â
Chicago has really woken up offensively lately, averaging 7.2 runs per game since the All-Star break (10 games). The White Sox are hammering left-handed pitching over the past month with a .373 wOBA (1st in MLB), 141 wRC+ (1st), .287 BA (2nd), and .882 OPS (1st). They’re also batting .396 with a .481 wOBA vs. lefties in the second half so far.Â
It may seem crazy to trust the White Sox on offense, but those above splits vs. southpaws don’t lie. Last night, they just scored 4 runs on 7 hits against Philly lefty Cristopher Sanchez, who’s been a lot better than Luzardo recently.Â
On the other side, Jonathan Cannon starts for Chicago. The right-hander has a 4.48 ERA and 4.74 FIP over 17 outings this season. Lately, he has a 5.63 ERA over his last 8 starts and a 4.01 ERA over his past 5 starts. Plus, Cannon’s 4.64 FIP at home this year doesn’t offer much confidence.Â
The Phillies, meanwhile, are hitting right-handed pitching well right now. Since the All-Star break, the lineup has a .376 wOBA vs. righties (2nd in MLB) with a .272 BA (5th), 141 wRC+ (2nd), and .281 ISO (1st). The Philadelphia offense should wake up after being held to 2 runs in last night’s series opener.Â
Take the over for the full game and first five innings. Both offenses should set the tone, especially on the Philly side of things, as the lineup looks to rebound from last night’s loss.Â
Plus, take the over on J.T. Realmuto’s hits+runs+RBI prop. The Phils’ catcher is batting .349 with an .883 OPS over the past 15 games. He’s also hitting .310 with an .813 OPS against righties this season.Â
- Expert Phillies vs. White Sox Picks:
- Over 8.5 Total Runs (-110 on BetMGM Sportsbook)
- 1st 5 Innings Over 4.5 Runs (-118 on BetMGM Sportsbook)
- J.T. Realmuto Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-130 on DraftKings Sportsbook)

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels Predictions: Tuesday, July 29th
The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels are both in the thick of the AL Wild Card race. After winning last night, the Angels are now 4.5 games back of the third spot. Meanwhile, the Rangers are half a game back after losing to LA on Monday. Let’s break down their divisional matchup tonight.Â
Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi has a solid 3.23 ERA this season, but he’s been much better at home. The veteran southpaw owns a 2.26 ERA and .286 wOBA at home compared to a 4.27 ERA and .347 wOBA on the road. Those are some drastic splits that are tough to ignore.Â
Kikuchi has struggled a bit lately, with a 4.85 ERA over his past 5 starts. Still, he gets a favorable matchup at home today. The Rangers have been terrible against left-handed pitching this year with a .274 wOBA (29th in MLB), 74 wRC+ (28th), and .216 BA (30th). Since the All-Star break, Texas is batting just .183 vs. lefties with a 34.9% K rate in the split.Â
Meanwhile, the Angels should provide run support in their matchup. Texas starter Patrick Corbin has a 3.78 ERA this season. He’s actually been good recently with a 2.01 ERA over his last 4 outings. Even so, we can fade him on the road here. Â
Corbin has a 4.39 ERA and 4.95 FIP on the road this season, compared to a 3.10 ERA and 2.99 FIP at home. Those road issues could come to the forefront today against a dangerous LAA offense that’s been tough against left-handers.Â
Since the All-Star break vs. lefties, the Angels boast a .349 wOBA (8th in MLB), 125 wRC+ (7th), and 12.2% walk rate (3rd). They also have a .351 wOBA and 127 wRC+ at home against southpaws over the past month. It’s an upper-tier lineup in the split right now.Â
There’s value in backing the Angels here. Kikuchi has the slight edge over Corbin, considering their respective home and road splits. Plus, the LA offense has been much better against left-handers than the Rangers.Â
