Angels vs. Orioles Predictions: Friday, June 13th

When two poor starting pitchers come together, you have multiple betting angles to pursue. That’s just what we have today as the Angels visit the East Coast Orioles! Jack Kochanowicz will be on the bump for Los Angeles, and Charlie Morton for Baltimore. This makes for a juicy matchup for the offenses, but how do I wager against them? Let’s dig into it. 

Kochanowicz has an ERA of 5.61 on the season thus far. More recently, it hasn’t been any better, as in his last 2 starts, he’s pitched just 7 total innings combined and given up 8 runs, 14 hits, and 4 walks! Not good news for him as the Orioles offense has recently started to heat up game to game with 14 runs in their series against the Tigers – a team with a much better pitching staff. 

On the Baltimore side, it’ll be Charlie Morton, who may be pitching his last season in the majors with his 6.59 ERA this season. To his credit, he has been better in May/June, but he’s still below average overall with an ERA over 4 in that stretch. These things considered, I think we see a lot of run production tonight and the over, which is high up there at 10 runs, is still attainable. So I will lean over there. 

In addition to the total, I really like some of these Orioles bats right now. Especially Gunnar Henderson, who has finally gotten hot this season. The O’s shortstop over the past 7 days is hitting .474 with a 1.092 OPS that includes 10 total bases, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. He seems like a good bet to go over his hits/runs/RBIs prop tonight in a great matchup, so let’s lock that bet in as well for this game.
