MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 9/19

Red Sox vs. Rays Predictions

As we head into the 2nd last weekend of the MLB regular season, it's crunch time for the Red Sox as they sit just 1.5 games ahead in the Wild Card race! It's good timing that Garrett Crochet is on the mound against the home side in Tampa Bay, and I see things going well for the ace!

It's no secret that Crochet is a top 5 pitcher in the league right now, and his command is top-notch. Over the past 50 innings pitched, the lefty has just 5 walks allowed compared to 64 strikeouts; that’s some top-tier stuff. He will be pitching against a Rays team that has struggled over the past week, with a K-rate of 23.8% and a team isolated power mark of just .128! The Triple A ballpark they play in may help a bit, but I foresee a big day from the south paw. The line is 8.5, which is a large task, but seeing his track record, I think he gets there and wins us a plus money wager!

In addition to the prop, I also like the under in the game as Drew Rasmussen will pitch for the Rays, and his 2.74 ERA and 1.00 WHIP speak for themselves. The Red Sox offense has also been below average recently, with a .134 ISO, which is just about the Rays in the bottom third of the league. Under 7.5 is going to be the play even if the number is lower than the average total bet.

Braves vs. Tigers Predictions

The Tigers are struggling down the stretch, and the Braves are out of the playoff hunt, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find some juicy wagers! Bryce Elder vs. Charlie Morton on the mound today, and we could see some fireworks.

The Braves did indeed have a bummer of a season, but that hasn’t slowed down the bats over the past week as they rank 7th in MLB in isolated power at .187, and their team BABIP is up to .313. Much of this is due to the play of Matt Olson and Ronald Acuna, who are both hitting over .400 in the past 7 games and OPS numbers north of 1.100! I like the prospects of both today, but I lean toward Acuna Jr. as Tiger’s pitcher; Charlie Morton is softer against righties this season, allowing a .280 average and a .830 OPS. Morton’s ERA has also climbed to 9.28 in the month of September, so give me Acuna Jr. to go over his hits/runs/RBIs prop tonight at just 1.5!

In addition to that, I just love the Braves in general today as Bryce Elder has pitched much better of late and the Tigers' offense has struggled in a big way over the past week with a team BABIP of just .233! Braves on the Money Line tonight is the way to go!
