Happy Saturday folks, hope everyone's last weekend in July is off to a great start! Friday was a nail biting wagering day for me as Sonny Gray just missed his prop and the over bet I had pushed so not all was lost but there wasn't a profit to be had and that makes me sad. Fear not though as the slate is packed again today with games starting in the mid afternoon and there are plenty of angles to find some winners. In today's article there is a run line wager, pitcher prop and a game total to check out so without further words here is what I will be betting on today, July 29th!

MLB Best Bets for July 29

Philadelphia Phillies at Pittsburgh Pirates

The battle for the Keystone State wages on this Saturday as the Phillies took the first game and look to be in a good spot again tonight. The Phils have now won 4 of their last 5 games and have done so with superior pitching and timely hitting and with their ace Aaron Nola on the mound tonight it gives them a huge leg up. Nola is in the best month of his season right now with a 3.25 ERA over 4 starts and has gone at least 7 innings in 3 of those starts. The strikeout numbers have improved too as he has 31 Ks over 27.2 innings of work. He will go against the Pirates who are slumping hard and just dealt one of their best offensive performers this season in Carlos Santana. The Pirates have also struckout 10.33 times in the last 3 games and have managed just 4.10 runs per game this season, the 4th lowest mark in the MLB. All of these stats out there I am taking the Phillies to cover the run line tonight as the Money Line is too chalky but I am going to add Aaron Nola to go over 6.5 strikeouts as the Pirates are just oh so bad right now.

Pick: Philadelphia Phillies Run Line -1.5 (-110 on DraftKings)

Pick: Aaron Nola Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-125 on BetRivers)

Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Dodgers

Every once and a while there's a bet that makes sense immediately as you see it, that is where we are at with the Reds and Dodgers today as they meet for their Saturday clash. Game 1 went to the the Reds in a 6-5 game that saw the total go over and tonight the line is set at 10.5 and that has me very interested. The pitchers on the mound tonight are the first thing that makes the over appealing as Luke Weaver with his 7.2 ERA goes against Emmet Sheehan and his 6.75 ERA. These guys are both gas cans going against offenses that are explosive as they come, not good for them. The Dodgers score 5.64 runs per game and the Reds score 4.85 runs per game the 2nd and 9th highest rates in the MLB, this has lead to the over hitting more often than not of course as the Dodgers have gone over in 61.5% of their games and the Reds have went over in 53.3% of games. Don't over think this one and take the over in tonight's game, should be a fun one!

Pick: Reds & Dodgers Over 10.5 Runs (-110 on BetMGM)
