Best MLB Strikeout Props Today

Tarik Skubal Over 8.5 Strikeouts (+107)

Skubal carries a 3.09 ERA and 89 strikeouts into tonight, the reigning back-to-back AL Cy Young winner rounding back into peak form after an injury-shortened start to the year. His last time out he shut down the Yankees over six innings at Comerica Park, mixing four different strikeout pitches, including a 99-mph fastball, to close hitters out.

Tonight, he opens Detroit’s second half at home against the Angels, and Los Angeles strikes out at a confirmed 25.5 percent clip against lefties this season, the best matchup number on the board. Take it.

Jared Jones Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+125)

Jones just delivered the best start of his career, six perfect innings against Atlanta on July 8, though the Pirates’ offense left him with a hard-luck 3-0 loss despite the gem. He remains on an 80-pitch, five-inning restriction as he continues working back from elbow surgery, but a 27.1 percent strikeout rate shows the stuff is fully back.

Tonight’s game is actually a makeup of Friday’s rained-out series opener, and he gets Cleveland, a lineup that has climbed to 27.9 percent strikeouts over its last two weeks against right-handers. Get it in.

Emmet Sheehan Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+101)

Sheehan carries a 4.81 ERA and 93 strikeouts into tonight, and while the results have been uneven, his 14.6 percent swinging-strike rate ranks in the 96th percentile among all starters. His last start was a short one, 4.1 innings and a loss against the Padres, but the swing-and-miss ability was never really the issue.

Tonight Sheehan travels to Yankee Stadium, and New York strikes out against right-handers at a confirmed 23.8 percent clip. Lock it in.

Trevor Rogers Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-115)

Rogers has quietly turned his season around, riding two scoreless outings in his last three starts, but the strikeouts have never been the story. His 18.1 percent strikeout rate is one of the lowest marks among today’s starters, and his last outing was efficiency over swing-and-miss, seven strikeouts over 6.1 innings against the Nationals on 87 pitches, exactly two-thirds of them for strikes.

Tonight, Rogers travels to Houston, and the Astros’ own contact-oriented approach against lefties this season sits at 23.6 percent, nothing that changes his profile as a soft-contact, command-first arm rather than a strikeout artist. Take the under.

Pitcher Strikeout Projections vs Betting Lines

Every strikeout prop on the board gets measured against season-long performance, recent form, and opponent tendencies before it ever makes this column. Betting lines move for a reason, and our job is to find where the market has not fully priced in a matchup edge. That is the foundation of every pick you see above.

Strikeout Props to Avoid Today

Max Meyer vs Milwaukee

Meyer has been sensational this season, a 2.58 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 108 innings that earned him his first career All-Star selection. But his last two starts have trended toward efficiency rather than dominance, just four strikeouts over five-plus innings in an extra-innings win over Seattle, and his lone career look at Milwaukee, back in 2024, produced only three strikeouts in four innings.

Milwaukee is a middling matchup for strikeouts against right-handers, sitting at 21.7 percent on the season, nothing that screams swing-and-miss. When an ace’s price already reflects a full season of dominance but his last couple of trips to the mound have leaned on soft contact instead of missed bats, that is not the number to chase. Leave it alone.
