How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Tuesday, June 23:

Favorite Bets: 

Travis Bazzana, Cleveland Guardians (+267) – The last time I picked the Cleveland rookie to steal a base, he went 4-for-4 with two homers and never swiped a bag, so maybe check out his HRR props as well. But this match-up against right-hander Sean Burke and his catchers, who combine for just a 23.5-percent caught-stealing rate, might be too good to pass up. Burke has routinely struggled against left-handed hitters throughout his career, while Bazzana, who is currently riding a six-game hit streak, is posting a mammoth .430 wOBA against righties that comes with a near-13-percent walk rate. With Jose Ramirez and Chase DeLauter out, the Guardians need Bazzana to set the table and be aggressive on the bases.

Longshot:

Carson Benge, New York Mets (+434) – As you can see above, Juan Soto has the shortest odds to steal a base, so if you want to play the situation a little safer, by all means, sprinkle a little something on the perennial all-star. I’m going to take the longer odds here with Benge, who still has the lefty/righty matchup with Cubs starter Edward Cabrera, as well as the 23.8-percent caught-stealing rate of Carson Kelly and Miguel Amaya. But Benge has the higher success rate and the better sprint speed, and since he hits righties well and should have little trouble with Cabrera’s stuff, I’ll take the longer odds today.
