Fernando Tatis, San Diego Padres (+283)

Well, he’s certainly not the home run king anymore, but at least Tatis is contributing on the stolen base front. Not the greatest success rate at 68.2-percent, but he’s got elite sprint speed, and the Reds catchers have combined for just a 19.7-percent caught-stealing rate. The Reds have lefty Andrew Abbott on the mound today and he’s allowed 11 stolen bases on the year, highest on the slate today, so with Tatis posting a .393 wOBA against southpaws this season, having hit safely in three-straight and 10 of his last 12, and with the way the rest of the Padres are struggling against lefties, I expect him to take matters into his own hands and manufacture some run-scoring opportunities.

Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels (+356)

The Angels are facing right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, who has allowed 10 stolen bases this season and works with catcher Christian Vazquez, who has just a 26-percent caught-stealing rate on 35 attempts. Teams are testing him. But while I am intrigued by the longer odds for guys like Wade Meckler and Oswald Peraza, I’m going to stay with Neto as the better overall hitter. He’s had success against Arrighetti in the past and serves as a team leader and prime table-setter for this lineup. He may not have a glowing success rate, but he’s had more than enough opportunities to rack up 15 steals on the season. Today, he grabs at least one more.
