Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Sunday, June 7:
Favorite Bets:
Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals (+249)
While Witt is on this current run (four-game hit streak; five-game stolen base streak), I feel like we have to bet him again, especially if Caratini is behind the plate. I don’t think it’s necessary to break down hitting numbers of catcher pop-times, but I will say, lefties on the mound usually have better pick-off moves, but I’m locking this bet down once again. It might seem like a cop-out but I’ve always been a “ride the wave until it breaks” kind of guy.
Randy Arozarena, Seattle Mariners (+494)
If you took notice up above, you’ll see that Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler slipped into the bottom-10 for caught-stealing rates with a mark of just 14-percent over 21 stolen base attempts. With Master of Walks, Jack Flaherty on the mound for Detroit, I’ll happily bet on Arozarena and his 17 stolen bases. The Mariners outfielder already has carte blanche on the bases and is batting .295 with a .387 OBP against righties this season. Add to that his BvP data where he’s batting .400 in 10 at-bats against Flaherty and I think we’ve got a great pick here.
Longshot:
Blaze Alexander, Baltimore Orioles (+770)
I was originally looking at Leody Taveras, but to my surprise, the Orioles lineup came out and Alexander is listed as the starting centerfielder. The reason the game caught my eye was not because Baltimore is riddled with base-stealers, but Kevin Gausman has allowed seven steals on the season and his catcher, Brandon Valenzuela has just a 23-percent caught-stealing rate over 35 attempts. Teams are testing this guy and it’s working. Alexander needs to get on-base against Gausman which isn’t an easy feat, but he is batting .274 with a .373 BABIP against righthanded pitchers and the sprint-speed is upper-echelon. A longshot indeed, but worth the effort.
