CJ Abrams, Washington Nationals (+266)

Out of the All-Star break, Abrams is 4-for-5 on stolen base attempts, and has a .460 OBP, and as we all know, you can’t steal bases if you aren’t getting on the base paths! Atlanta’s Reynaldo Lopez isn’t a huge threat in terms of containing the run game, and catcher Drake Baldwin has thrown out just seven percent of base stealers on the season. Sixteen of Abrams’ 19 steals on the year have come against righties, and his 82nd percentile sprint speed is more than enough to swipe a bag or two this afternoon.

A.J. Ewing, New York Mets (+370)

Despite Joe Mack being above-average in the caught stealing department (30% CS%), teams love to run on Miami’s pitchers. Most notably, Eury Perez and today’s starter, Tyler Phillips. Of pitchers who have thrown at least 400 pitches with the lead runner on first or second, Phillips has the ninth-highest stolen base attempt rate in baseball! Phillips has served up a .359 OBP and .351 wOBA to lefties on the year, and not only does Ewing have a respectable .325 wOBA versus righties, but 12 of his 14 steals on the year have come against RHP. Furthermore, out of the All-Star break, he’s a perfect 5-for-5 on his stolen base attempts.
