When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season. Keep in mind that on such a small slate and with the pitchers from which we have to choose, the data is very limited.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Friday, September 25:

Favorite Bets: 

Jake McCarthy, Colorado Rockies (+220) – McCarthy has hit safely in six of his last seven games with three stolen bases over his last eight. He’s got a .337 wOBA against righties and faces Sean Burke of the White Sox, who has allowed 23 stolen bases on the season. His catcher, Kyle Teel, has been a challenge to steal on when he’s healthy, but overall, the South Side catchers have just a 27.4-percent caught-stealing rate. We’ll look to close out our season on a relatively high note.

Ronald Acuna, Atlanta Braves (+405) – After leaving Wednesday’s game due to fouling a ball off his leg, Acuna came back yesterday, logged two hits and stole his 21st base of the season. Pretty sure that leg is fine, and tonight gives us a fantastic opportunity to grab another stolen base from him, with some healthy odds. Marlins righty Eury Perez has allowed 31 stolen bases this season, and his catchers have just a 25-percent caught-stealing rate. The Braves are looking to head into the playoffs with some momentum, so taking care of business against the Marlins should be that extra push they need.
